New Redemption Grab Bag now includes an assortment of 500 cards from five (5) different expansion sets. Available at Cactus website.
Hello! I was super involved in Redemption years ago. My name is Brandon West, I was Lightningninja or something like that on the forums. I haven't played in probably 5 years or so, since college. Wondering if you guys can answer some questions. The last set I played with was Disciples or Thesaurus, can't remember which one came later.1. Anything big changed, like new card types or game modes or rules? It looks like there are clay heroes now, is that the biggest change?2. Are there tournaments anywhere in Southern California?3. Has the game expanded or declined? Thanks for any help! Not sure I'll get back into it, but I'm thinking about it.
Yes. There are two specific cards from the last two sets that are needed for competitive play. The Second Coming is a good dominant from the Cloud of Witnesses set that allows you to search your deck or discard for any good dominant, but it may not be included in a deck with New Jerusalem. It costs $120, but you could probably get one for cheaper if you asked on the boards. the other is three woes, a dominant that is bot good and evil. you place it in your territory as a good or evil dominant and you may negate a card of different alignment until your next turn. it costs $100, but again, you can get it cheaper if you ask around on the boards. Technically, neither of these are actually necessary for competitive play, but they greatly help, for obvious reasons.
Welcome back, Brandon! (For those unfamiliar with him, Brandon was a top player in T1 during his tenure and won MP at Nats 2009)A player can still be highly competitive without The Second Coming as long as they use New Jerusalem. In fact 2 cards in RoJ help you get NJ faster.Three Woes is probably in every top deck though.

That's definitely a big meta shift. I would have thought SoG and NJ are still staples.

It frees you up to play Son of God more strategically
I still like to drop in on the forums from time to time to check on the game and give my two cents
I haven't seen any tournaments this year, but I know last year Michael Leung hosted a Regionals with Jonathan Gomez (who is now living on the east coast). Scott and Andrew Kramer attended, and Kurt and Bryon Hake showed up for a bit.Who knows? It might just take one person willing to organize to get a playgroup going again.
WELCOME BACK BRANDON!!!
Brandon good to hear from you! As far as I know the game is inactive in Southern California. Most of us old timers have had life get in the way and have retired or taken a extended hiatus from the game.I still like to drop in on the forums from time to time to check on the game and give my two cents
... You know you still cherish memories of your Nats championship few years ago! Perhaps reunite with Brandon in TX! ...
OTHER BRANDON. Good to see you still semi-involved man, been a while. Has Bryan retired?
