Sealed Deck - Which Packs Rock?

So I signed up for Sealed Deck at Ken's tournament tomorrow, and I haven't done it in awhile (since at least pre-RoA).

What is a good set of packs to complement the G/H starter decks?

Assume all packs are available (including Di and TxP) because I want to make a hierarchical list if possible.

Brandan Abbott won the National tournament with deck G by selecting 3 Prophets packs.  Apparently 2x Huldah makes Women of Israel pretty good, plus 2x Cup of Wrath and the few blue heroes he and his opponent pulled were enough to make some interesting combos.

For Deck H, Disciples seems like a no-brainer, but do most hosts offer those?

Ken sometimes puts Di/TxP packs in Booster Draft, so I figured it was a good idea to include them as a possibility in case he offered them.

Thanks for the tip, that does sound like it was an interesting match.

I always go with 3 Kings packs if Texp/Di/Women aren't available (they usually aren't, unless the host does something like each person gets 1 Unlim, 1 Prop, and 1 Texp). You'd have to get pretty lucky pulls from anything else to make other packs worth it. The silver in the Kings is the best; Gabriel, Mike, Cap, TSA, Gathering, etc. are all amazing pulls. There's also the other FbtN guys, the Hopper, Site-doubler, */4, and Shuffler Ls. Chances are good you'll get something better than you would with other packs (barring the 3 I mentioned above). :)

Or you could break the mold and go with 3 blue packs, blue is a good color.
If you were to go on a trip... where would you like to go?

I always go 3 priests...

If your lucky, they have the most valuable cards in non-box booster packs, and the most powerful. Kings is alright, just not enough bang for your buck.

I think you have to be REALLY lucky for priests packs to be a good choice.  There are great cards in the set but it is very unlikely that you get a good match to make them usable.  When opening 60+ priest packs, I used them to play sealed with my wife.  Even with both using priests (most times your opponent won't also choose preists) it was rare that we got enough teal heros to make the enhancements playable or vice versa and even less often with orange.  A couple times it was great but the rest was pretty weak.

I agree with the Kings pack choice.  It doesn't always happen but frequently I have pulled a FBTN guy which is great in sealed.  It has a lot of high number characters which is also good for sealed.  You have a decent chance of getting a crimson warrior class guy to make that one capture enhancement playable.  There are some decent Egyptians to work with that defense.  There are also cards like Battle Prayer, Ambush the City, and I often get Provisions.

My best pulls have been with silver:  getting Captain, Captain's Sword, 4 other high number angels, the silver negate, Gathering, and a multi armor of God was awesome.  No defense had a chance against that.  I also got some decent defense with it.

I usually go 1 Kings and 2 Patriarchs.

Kings for the same reason.

Pats has some very very nice banding enhancements on both offense and defense including Transfiguration and ANB.

Kings for Sealed are the all around best pack in the sense that you get the most powerful cards per pack. TSA, Cap and all those other goodies come in those packs make Kings a VERY good choice.

But if you are VERY VERY familiar with  how the G/H decks function and play out Prophets are a even better choice. Prophets are the only packs there sides the Blues which do not have silver that means you have that much of a higher chance of getting cards that match your brigade. You also have to remember the all around lack of Good and Evil Characters in the G/H decks which the bounty of characters that the Prophets packs always seems to have. Example Hudlah x3 and I was able to fully fill out my defense with characters (8ish) instead of just using the 5(?) that come in the deck. Even the no SA cards in these packs are good I dont think anyone with the H deck would be complaining if they get Mountain of God in there packs or Hammer of God if you had the G deck. And dont forget the rares in the prophets are also VERY good if you get lucky there is Furnace of Gods Wrath, Charred Vine, Ez Stick, Abadon, Great Image, The False Prophet, Cup of Wrath, Dungeon of Mal. ect. ect.

Really the only downside to the Prophets packs is you get a total of 6 less cards out of your 3 packs but in my experience opening kings it just equals the same number of junk cards I normally get.
