I was just curious. Rock of Ages came out in August (I believe), and I don't remember when it was announced. Has a new expansion for 2009 been announced yet? If not, when is the new expansion usually announced?

Details (name, release format, number of cards) should be announced long before Nats (Bryon recently estimated that actual details would happen in May and spoiler articles will be released in June), but a full card list probably won't happen until the launch at Nats (or a few hours later if we have to build it ourselves).

For the last few sets, Mike Berkenpas has put the cards up on the REG early on the morning of the first day of Nationals. But of course, when it's months away, a few hours barely matters to us.

For FooF, I happened to be on the REG a few hours before the sets were to be officially released and saw the cards online. They were quickly taken down (probably just a test), but I still had the browser window open and could see them, so everyone online got the complete list of cards within minutes of the release.

With RoA, the card list was released a day early so that players could prepare for the Booster Draft event.

This year it will prolly not be the day before as there is a low chance of the next set being used in booster. And so far the only hints of the set given out have been is that it is not a format that has been released before so its not a starter, standard booster, or tin. The set has also been said to be small.

Small is a relative term though. Smaller than the largest set ever released? Smaller than the average set? Smaller than the 2nd smallest set ever released? The smallest set ever released? So all small means is that it's probably some thing between 200 and 2

I'm kind of disappointed that it will be a small set. I wish they would release more than one expansion set a year, but since it's only one I'd kind of like it to be a sizable set. After two sets of tins, I was kind of hoping that they'd return to the starter deck/booster pack, 200+ expansion set again. Oh well. Guess I'll be happy with what we get.

I seriously doubt that anyone will be disappointed with what Rob and his playtesters have cooked up for this set.

lol Well, I'm sure it will be a great set. I'm not doubting Rob's abilities at all. I haven't even seen any of the cards from Rock of Ages in person (the only store that carried Redemption has stopped -- and I'm too lazy to order on line, though I'll get around to it someday lol), and Rock of Ages is definitely an awesome set, with most of the cards deserving to go into my decks as soon as I get them. I just wish we could have a sizable set again, is all I'm saying. But I'm sure whatever cards Rob has cooked up will be awesome.

It is, and I don't find it humorous. I'm really sick of suspense; I don't like surprises. I wish either people would stop talking about the new set or someone could give even a tiny piece of information about it - a name, a sample card, anything! Seriously, this isn't healthy for me, please.

We would... we're just not allowed to.

As for musicians... I don't know if they need more. I don't think they want to put that theme into overdrive. It's not made to use ONLY musicians... use other white cards as well, like joseph before pharoah, blessings, transfiguration, moses and elders, and other things.
