Now that we have the HoF off the ground, I would like to get a bit more organized going forward. To start with, I think it would be a good idea for there to be a group of people involved with representation from all the different parts of the country. These representatives should be people who have been involved with the game to a significant degree, and from another recent thread I lifted this list of people with the top 5 RNRS points. I know that RNRS is not necessarily the best way to find reps from each region, but it's a start.
I guess I need about 3 steps here.
1 - people to suggest other nominees to represent their region.
2 - nominees who are listed to state their willingness (or unwillingness).
3 - each region voting to decide which of the willing nominees will represent them.

I'm a little confused at what you're trying to do here. Are the regional lists supposed to be the people we want to be in our region's HoF, or do you want some players from each region to represent the region in some kind of UN voting committee?
On SW players:
- (Add) Bryon Hake. Although he doesn't play in competition very often anymore, he's got the trophies to prove he haz skillz. Plus, the whole playtester/host thing.
- (Add) Brandan Abbott has skillz, too, and uses them to go for the epic and awesome plays -- and can hold his own with the seemingly random against any of us playing the strongest decks on earth. As Bryon mentioned before, fun & fellowship is this man's goal.
- (Add) Brandon West won a Nats category, as well as an NW trophy, and has won important regionals titles. If he ever shows up again to show it wasn't just a fluke, I'd support his presence on such a list :)
- Kurt is playing very well, and is consistantly among the top RNRS nationwide. I think he also placed at Nats a couple of years ago. Imagine how good he'll be when he's old enough to lose the RLK status! :)
- Andy. Yeah... I played this guy for years in the T2 corner without a hope of ever defeating him. Bryon's right, he certainly was a top player.
- The Pfeisters came to regionals a few years ago. Let's just say that the Diamondbacks shut out the Dodgers that year. I never played them (I think they stuck to T1), but shouts of anguish from CA players that day often found a Pfeister on the other side of the table. I simply don't know them well enough to say whether they are HoF guys, as I think they only came out here once (though they may have come before my time).
- As for me, I'm not HoF stuff compared to these guys. Most of my points came from 3 Kramers ganging up on one or two others in T2 MP in the early days (though I put up a few legit points this last year). Maybe someday, but for now, I'll just root for the other CA players :)
Of these, Andy and the Pfeisters no longer play (unless they simply do it outside of Bryon's tournies).

agreed.

southeast:eric largent.now why the heck is dan whitten not on the list? i'd nominate him for the HoF anyday.

I'm a little confused at what you're trying to do here.
I apologize for the confusion. I'm not trying to organize regional hall of fames here. I'm still swamped with the 1 Hall of Fame that I'm already trying to keep together :)
The purpose of this thread is to put together a committee of people (1 from each region) who can serve as an advisory committee of sorts for the 1 HoF that has already been started. I would like to take nominations for HoF candidates this spring and then come up with a slate of candidates for people to vote on in the early summer. However, there could easily be people nominated who I don't know personally, and who don't have their names in the record books where I can look them up. Therefore, I thought that it would be better if there were someone from each region to help go through all the nominations from their region and assist in determining who would make the final slate of candidates to be voted on in the summer.
So I'm looking for people who you think would have been involved with the game to a significant level and who you think would be able to represent your region well on this advisory committee.
North Central:Bill Voigt
This is an excellent suggestion.
southeast:eric largent.
He's actually already on the list of possible people, and Dan Whitten just wasn't in the top 5 of RNRS for his region despite being a stellar player and multiple Nats winner. I admit that I was surprised not to see him there. He would also be a fine suggestion for the committee, but remember we're not voting on HoF at this point.

NW: Ben Arp

NW: Ben Arp
I agree that Ben would be a great person to work with, but he's already on the list :) Speaking of the list, you're on there too Stamp. Would you be willing to represent you region if elected?
-
North Central:
Bill Voigt
Strongly disagree. Bill is too modest to nominate himself to the HoF (even though he really should have been on the original list of candidates). I say not to Bill on the HoF committee until he is safely ensconced in the Hall.

Not a problem. I am fairly positive that Wild Bill will be a candidate on the next slate of HoF candidates. Anyone can nominate people once we open up nominations, and I'm sure he'll get several nominations from plenty of other people :)

I'm confused. Based on the duties required of the regional representative Ben Arp is the most qualified from the NW region. But the confusing statement you make is that Ben is already on the list. Are HoF candidates not allowed to be a regional representative? Ben has attended many National tournaments and has first hand experience with most of the HoF candidates that would be considered. The rest of us in the NW really can only provide info on other NW players. I do not believe I would be a good candidate. Josh Randolph (NWJosh) would be the next best choice for representing our region after Ben.
-
But the confusing statement you make is that Ben is already on the list.
Ben is on the list of people from the NW region who will be voted on to pick 1 representative on the HoF committee (as are you).
I do not believe I would be a good candidate.
OK, I'll take your name off the list of possibles then. Thanks for letting me know.

I nominate President orangebus.

I would like to be removed for 2 reasons.
1. I'm not humble or modest enough to have such a responsibility.
2. I'm no longer in the Midwest (even though that is where the lionshare of my RNRS points came from however I am trying to rectify that in the NE ;) ->lack of tourney participation makes that a hard goal. )

hahhaaha. This made me laugh pretty hard. I'm doing my best to make it up to one, I promise! ;D

I’m flattered that some of you have mentioned my name. If you think it will get you favorable rulings at the upcoming Type 2 tournament you are mistaken. I always rule in Nathans favor. ;)
But I think I need to help put things in perspective. I see myself as late comer to the game as I started playing just before Kings came out. I got a window on the real Hall of Famers when I was privileged to go out to eat with Chris Bany, Mike Berkenpas, and Brian Hake at the Pittsburgh Nationals. I just listened with amazement at their stories, their knowledge of the game and their respect for Rob. Those guys along with some of the great players like Ron and Tim that were winning Nationals before I even played the game have a lot more knowledge about the game and the players. My knowledge is mostly limited to MN. I have more than I can do to keep up with the wild hoards here in MN. I got to know Doug Gray through emails and a few phone calls and by buying all the Nehustions and Guardians to trade. He is a generous guy who has greatly blessed the Game of Redemption. I know Bany the best and not many people know all the sacrificial efforts he has put in over the years and keeps putting in to help the game grow.
I’m a second tier Redemption guy along with many others like the Alstad’s, that love the game of Redemption and want to see it continue. Then there are all the third tier people that have lately got involved and make it worthwhile to keep running tournaments.
So in conclusion enjoy the game and pray that God continues to raise up people to keep it going and that it will be used to further His Kingdom.

You mean like Pete Rose?
who?
basically, all the voting has been done on here, all of the asking if they'd like to be a part has been done on here, and everything following will be on here. so basically, that cancels out half the people.

It would be ironic, then, if Brandon's middle initial was "S."

I the case of Bill voight and others, I feel that Mark should (and other regional leaders) should be able to nominate worthy leaders from other regions (IE. I should be able to nominate Bill, which I will until he is enshrined, and he should be able to nominate me, which I will absolutely decline at least until I have a much better showing at a couple of Nats.)
That is just because I know that any regional leader that gets chosen would probably sooner die than nominate themselves, even though they may be qualified to be in the HOF.
-
I know that any regional leader that gets chosen would probably sooner die than nominate themselves, even though they may be qualified to be in the HOF.
Although I don't have this whole thing figured out yet (thus the need for an advisory committee), my current thinking is that nominations to the HoF would actually come from the regular members of this forum as opposed to just from the committee members. The committee would then give advice on the people from their region as to whether they deserve a spot on the final list of people that we will then solicit votes for (again from the regular members of the forum). I'm also currently thinking that anyone on the committee, would not actually comment on themselves if they were to be nominated (so that they don't tank their own chances due to their humility).

We now have at least one person willing to represent each region other than the North West and the South Central. Are any of the possible people from those regions willing to help out?
