Martyrs

Why aren't the other disciples (minus Judas) considered martyrs?  I wasn't a religion major, but I was taught that all the other 11 disciples (except John who died of extreme old age) all were martyred in different parts of the world where they went to preach the Gospel.  Some met horrible ends from what we learned in Sunday School, but I always wondered because there wasn't a record in the Bible.  But I know there are cards for hitorical figures not mentioned in the Bible, so I'm just curious:  is there just not enough evidence that Matthew was a martyr, as opposed to Thomas?

For martyrs, Redemption requires one of: martyr in the title, a Biblical account/reference of that character as a martyr or universal agreement in church tradition. The disciples that are not martyrs are probably commonly agreed to be martyrs, but it's not universal.
