FoM set printer

Did we use a new printer for FoM? I noticed with the last set that some/many of the cards seemed to be printed dark. Especially Leviathan - the image online has the creature being a bright, beautiful blue, but each of the 4 copies that I have is quite dark and only the tips of the ears and nose are light blue. The body is almost entirely in shadow. Also, many of the FoM cards I've pulled are badly cut. Anyone else have the same perception/experience?

I have noticed a significant amount of poorly centered cards.

As have I. In fact, the Whirlwinds I got at Nats are off center - it's much more noticeable when the card is upside-down as a fort.
ANB is good. Change my mind.

I've seen a lot of off center cards.

If we printed everything borderless you would hardly be able to notice. 8)

The cards are now printed on demand and appear to be RGB instead of CMYK, the printing standard; which would explain the darker and incorrect colors.

4 Boxes of FoM and this is the normal card back for me.  I've heard it is just the normal.

We have been using the same printer for all sets from Early Church through Fall of Man.  Some batches come in better than others even in the same printing.

Since the quality issues are widespread and significant, is it possible for us to try/use a different printer?

This could easily solve the off center card issue etc.   I have also been opening packs with off center pictures as well.

Seems like to me off centered cards are considered "normal" condition cards. I guess I could sorta live with that especially if the card is in a sleeve for game playing purposes.  But it would be nice if this could be fixed in the future though.

Remeber guys that there is always the Project Management Triangle when it comes to card games.

Pick two: Affordable card prices, Quality cardboard, Quality control.

Right now we've got the first two. Personally, I think this better then the alternative of having better quality control but cheapo cardboard.

Very good point. Like anyone, I'm not thrilled to have mis-cut cards, but I understand it's going to happen now and then.

I didn't realize that, Isildur - thanks for sharing that really helpful insight! I also would have the quality control be the one that gets cut if I had to choose one. I just wish that we could get all 3

Honestly, as long as the cards are the right size and not horribly misprinted (which I have never seen before) I'm fine with off center cards. It doesn't detract from their playability or value, so I don't really think it's a problem.

Actually I agree with Isildur on his points.

I am glad to have the first two.

With this in mind I hope the off centered cards will not affect prices or trading on the forums though.

Otherwise I could get used to it.

In addition to Isildur's insightful comments, I still like the idea that they are printed in the US, and we no longer have to wait for them to come from China. Granted, I've not seen the latest cards yet, but for me the exchange is worth it.
