How do you use this card to its fullest? I have had it in my Disciple / Herod deck but never really used it cause the risk is high I think for having to discard from hand s matching card and x from your deck to save 1 character.

Basically it's best use is to save your Character when your about to win the game.

They seem pretty lame as fighters maybe we should challenge them to a dance off or a redemption game

It's also almost always worth the cost if you have 0-1 Redeemed Souls. In addition to Lampstand it can also hold Temple Veil for a Disciples/TGT deck.
