This is proof it does not cost an arm and a leg to build a competitive deck in Redemption.

For sure, one of my current decks (Not the 1000 card one) Has only 3 ultra rares in it - GoYS, DoN, NJ. and then the Promo Captured Ark, I would estimate that they deck would cost about 35 bucks if you already had the Full Dom Set. plus Cap. Ark can be picked up at a District for free.

im not talking about building a singular, competive deck. im talking about staying competitive towards the game as a whole. and as every good player knows, its always a good idea to keep on hand every possible card that is legal...especially with these new expansions coming out that utilize older, oft over-looked cards.

and dont even get me started on type 2.

That deck would cost over $150 by 3LG pricing. For me, that would be at least an arm.  ;)

More to the point a deck like that will never win anything.               ;)

Yeah. I know.  I really do.

Yeah, that's another good perspective, Alex.
IMO, the best move they ever made in this regard was putting New Jerusalem in the gift set. I'm all for accessibility. I think affordability of top-tier decks is very important to the longevity of this game as well. Hopefully, the inclusion of new players doesn't come at the cost of alienating the existing playerbase.

For those who feel the set is packaged poorly, there's several sites out there already selling complete sets of the cards for a modest fee in comparison with what you would pay for the packs. Ken for example is charging 90 for a complete set. A booster box of texp was, I believe, 124? There are single options out there, but the way I see it, why not open packs that could have awesome stuff like Destructions and Guardians? I'm guranteed not to get commons and uncommons, and sure I am goign to be stuck with a prophets rare, but maybe it's false peace.

I figured I need to provide that prospective somewhere after spending all last night reading complaining about the game in the rulings thread.

Now you got me thinking I should start from scratch and see how much it would cost me to put together that deck via buying packs/tins/starters and then trading online... :P
