Hi there,

I know I am stressing this topic. But what do you think about older cards having much stronger competitors - do they have a chance to be seen in current decks? And I'm not only talking about reprints.

Golden Calf for example: Confusion of Mind is much more stronger with less deficit and also CBN. So do you see any scenario/concept where Calf would be usable/more useful than Confusion?

Or when thinking of all the old enhancements/characters without any SAs. Well these enhancements could be useful in FBN decks - but not really IMHO.

What's your opinion regarding this topic?

Do we need additional formats like within MtG: Standard, Vintage, Legacy, etc.?

Golden Calf is a better choice in some decks I think. For example, if you are running a Brown defense, King Ahaziah can grab Golden Calf from your deck or discard pile. It is also much easier for your opponent to get rid of CoM because of the discard option.

Samuel's Edict and Windows of Narrow Light are a couple of cards that make non-SA Heroes useful.

In general older cards are not going to be as useful, but one of my favorite things to do is discover new ways to use old cards by combining them with newer cards. 

very true  he does this and wins with the decks he uses them in which is awesome. i love seeing people playing tournaments and winning with decks that have near unheard of strategies - John Earley's deck the year before last is another awesome example of a super creative deck type that did something no one even knew could be done

More reasons for Golden Calf over Confusion of mind: Artifacts are somewhat harder to hit than curses, they don't have Brigades for all the various cards relating to brigades. Additionally Golden Calf is an idol which can help Demons and can be searched out with Greeks and held in Areopagus. I've actually considered putting Golden Calf in my Demon/Magician deck (the offense is mostly NT Angels), but space is tight and both Household Idols and Shrine to Artemis are better.
