I did something like this a couple of years ago when I thought it was stupid that Hunger didnt do what it said on the card making a awesome card completely useless and the game as a whole more complicated.
So im making the same call for Every Mans Sword (lets call it EMS) to be made playable.
Back in the day when EMS was changed to not being playable because of War Chief and what not was done because it was a matter of having it be possible to add souls to your opponents LOB there were only a handful of cards back in the day that could even do this. Battle challenges were then changed to make it possible for these cards to still work but in the process it turned EMS into something less playable then the badly worded Split Alter.
PS. If I got anything wrong someone please correct me so I can change this! I tired to find a better worded explanation for this but I came up dry lol
Moral of the story is even if this card seems lame at first it would be a welcome counter to some of the Meta much like it was when it first came out. With a proper defensive deck or even with a standard split deck you can hide your souls with little problem wether it be in sites or your deck. But when you do this you open your self to your opponent spamming you with various abilities Z Temple, Gabe, bad stuff... ect ect. much like Warriors Gabe back in the day and prompting the printing of this card in the first place. The card doesnt look great but trust me it can be useful!
So yeah.... make usable! rahhh.....
On to Taunt.... thought I would lump this together instead of making two threads.
My suggestion is to have Taunt function the same as a standard RA except evil so the EC can attack regardless of there being a soul out or not (and obviously if there was a soul out the EC could not rescue the soul). I have two reasons for this...
First. Being its SUPER easy to explain to a new player all I have to say is one your turn you can make a attack (would still be considered a battle challenge?) with your EC instead of a RA with a hero. DONE super easy to explain instead of having the semi convoluted rules in place for it now.
Second. Opens up the chance to make Taunt cards usable in the future. The whole reason for the wonky rules is because of the fear for ccccccccccccccombo breakers. With this clearly not being the case in todays meta and with the power creep on good cards spiking every year I think there really wont be a problem with changing Taunt to be far more usable.
Any one agree with either of my suggestions in my big wall of text? ;D
*Edit Here is the Every Mans Sword Play As as you can see it really does make the card about as useless as Taunt :P
Every Man's Sword (Ki)

I'd get behind this change.

Unfortunately errata is only issued to make cards less playable, not more playable. So if you really want to give EMS an errata, you could say that it can't be discarded to Uzzah. Since that's the only playable reason to ever use EMS anyways. :P

Technically he wasn't suggesting errataing the card, but change how the card is ruled (or possibly getting rid of an errata).

So yeah.... add a errata or something and make it usable! rahhh.....
This was the only sentence I read.

EMS is still powerful against players who like to run a lot of side battles using prophet+HT, just to be, you know...obnoxious. ;)
(Did I say that out loud?!?)

I used EMS in my site deck. This was me after the rule change:

"For cryin' out loud!"
I'd love EMS to be playable again! It might even see play again because of AUTO... (but probably not)

Hey where do you find the REG with the play as stuff and what not any ways? I tried googling it and I could only find the PDF version which is missing all the play as stuff...

They changed it after nationals in Ohio because I made an 18 year old girl cry. I had a type two site lock- choose the blocker offense deck and EMS kept her site access hero's from gaining site access. I locked her out on both sides and she cried after she lost. I felt bad after I won and ask her what card she needed. So I gave her a Destruction of Nehustion back in the day when that was a card to die for.

Every Tribe's Sword (Ki)

The best part of this is that I played the same young lady in the next round.* After the game everytribe asked me how it went, and I told him that the young lady (TYL) and I had the following conversation**...
Me: How's the tournament going?
TYL: It's pretty hard--everyone is so competitive.
Me: I know. There was some old guy laughing after the last game about making a girl cry.
The look on everytribe's face was priceless.
*I believe it was KC Nats and not Ohio.
**We didn't really have this conversation (nor was everytribe really laughing after the previous game), I made the whole thing up to make everytribe feel doubly-bad.

The important aspect of that encounter is that Wild Bill did not coddle the young lass. We elders must continue to spank the youngsters in competition so they don't grow up all wishy-washy. Because of Wild Bill's tough love, the TYL will most likely grow up to be our country's first female Secretary of State. ;)

There are so many comments that can be made there, but I shall merely chuckle about them to myself and refrain from posting.

So how is EMS played right now? the wording seems pretty simple, But what is it's "played as"?

I would agree with both of these proposed changes. They would encourage the use of an actual defence, and they would also make some of the newer offences not be so OP'd
