Build off of your tin, if you guys use tins. If not, try to pick any heroes with 8 attack or higher. I rarely pass up on them. Of course try to pick a brigade at the very beginning (something you got one or two good cards of that brigade) and build off of that. In addition, pick mainly offense. That's probably the most important thing. You always want to have a hero and an enhancement to help with.

The rest is just about learning what card to pick in a pinch. :)

I agree with all of that. Plus, banding is your friend. Pick as many banding characters as you can, good and evil; the more general their targets, the better. Also, banding enhancements will usually win you battles, especially ones that can bring in a bunch of other player's characters.

Also, the most strategic thing about Booster is knowing when to defend, and when to give up a freebie. If someone jumps out to an early lead, then restrict their ability to get LS's by giving away LS's to other players.

For example: player A has 1 Lost soul, player B has 3, and you are player C, with 1 LS in your territory. If player A attacks you, even if you have a great block, you might want to give up the soul to avoid letting player B have a try at it.

Finally, there is no such thing as too many heroes. most winning BD decks have at least 10-12 heroes, if not more. You want to be able to attack whenever LS's are available to you, otherwise it won't be pretty.

The main problem with people and booster is that they do not draft enough offense, or forget their color. If you can remember your colors that you have been drafting then you will do fine. I always go for 2-3 colors on offense, and whatever big guys on defense with a battle winner to match them. Sometimes if I see a battle winner on defense I will grab it and then grab a guy to play it on later. Always grab way more offense than defense and make sure to grab battle winners that match your colors.

To expand a tad bit more on my idea of building off of a few good cards, if you get Baggage, for example, in the blue pack. That's a battle winner. Then you draft Peter in Apostles. You should probably start drafting red, cause you already have some good cards for that brigade, and both of those cards are GREAT in booster draft.

One last thing unless I think of something else (no kidding), red and blue and pale green I find have the most cards, period. Just the quantity of cards, red and blue have a LOT. My collection, just from opening packs, has made it that I have twice as many blue cards as any other brigade except red, which is right behind it. Silver and Teal, unless you draft a michael or a phinehas, probably aren't gonna be worth it cause not including a tin, you only have 2 sets that will have teal, and silver just plain doesn't have a lot of cards, I'm not sure why.

Not sure if this was already mentioned or not, but I ALWAYS pick a site if there is one.  Sites are great in booster draft.  And as was already mentioned, look for numbers, like a 4/3 enhancement or even a 6/0.  Artifacts/Covenants/Curses (like Unholy Writ, Unknown Nation, etc) become huge too.  Most booster draft battles are by the numbers.  Priests heroes are HUGE.  I won three battles today with an 11/9 priest I drafted, and I never used/had a teal enhancement.  Also, draft warrior class heroes and weapons for them, as those are permanent number increasers.  Finally, go after the guy who just successfully fended off a hero or two (or died trying).  He likely has very little defense left now.

Hope this helps.

I did not read the article, but to add/agree to what others have said:

1. Banding cards rule
2. Get characters (evil and good) early - great enhancements with no characters to play them on are not so great enhancements.
3. Pick battle winners quickly - capture, return to hand, and discard.
4. Pick cards that will ruin your deck if your opponent gets them - (i.e. Miriam, if you have gold evil)

Although I agree that sites can be tough in booster draft, it also just means that no one will attack you. All those cool evil cards are just going to sit in your hand the whole game.

I always build a 50-card deck.  I need the couple of awesome heroes to show every game.

I generally draft in this order:
- Hero in my color
- Big hero
- Site
- Evil character in my color
- Good enhancement in my color
- Big EC
- Artifact/Curse/Covenant that will shut down an offense
- Evil enhancement in my color

I usually try to pick up a second color of either red, green, or gold -- whichever isn't being drafted from the blue packs.  I find those enhancements to be the easiest to draft, and red and green always have a gazillion characters floating around.  I want to have at least 3 characters in a color, or else I get stuck with one hero's enhancements all game.

I have been drafting small defenses since Nats.  I got Nebby TxP, Large Tree, 2x Babylonian capture card, etc, and I simply was never attacked in any of my games, while everyone else exchanged free souls.  As long as I can grab a couple of big characters and battle winners (one or two of which may be from the tins), I'll just stick to grabbing heroes the rest of the time.

I never draft any Sites or defense other than banders and stand-alones. I want people to rescue my souls so that they aren't rescuing from the people I want to rescue from.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!
