Questions from a newb...

Hey all,

I had a collection of these cards when I was younger. I'm not sure what happened to them! I'm familiar with card games - I've played Yugioh for many years, but I randomly remembered this game the other day. Anyway, resources that I am interested in looking for are not readily apparent to me.

I would appreciate if anyone would link me or point me in the direction of any of the following items:

  • The Metagame: A solid compilation of competitive strategies, singles, decks, staples, etc. I'd like to start with whatever won the most recent major event (regional/nationals) and build from there
  • Basic mechanics FAQ: Is it better to go first or second? How many enhancements should I expend in a single battle? Aside from effect heroes / evil characters, is there any reason to play less than a 10/10?
  • If I need to find someone for the Lackey simulator or if I can join a pool and play somebody randomly
  • Are the regional and national tournaments played out in swiss then top cut based on points, or just finishes after the conclusion of swiss?
  • Average attendance for Nats, Regionals, etc.?

Thank you all!

Welcome to the forum and the Redemption community! Great questions!

www.landofredemption.com is going to be your best resource for the metagame, winning deck lists, top strategies and some basic tutorials. There are also articles there that discuss going 1st or 2nd, and some that talk about Lackey.
For Lackey, once you install the Redemption plug in and connect to the server you can see others online that have the Redemption plug in active. You can also join the ROOT League on these forums.
Almost all tournaments are played using the Swiss format. T1-2P at Nationals has also used a top 8 cut the past few years.
Covenant Games website has statistics for past National tournaments. I don't know if Regional statistics are readily available.
Have you visited the Land of Redemption today?

In regards to tournaments, it's also worth noting that all major tournaments are open to everyone. You do not need to qualify in order to attend a Regional or the National tournament (in case that was why you asked about size).

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?
