For dancing wives can you convert the character you take or just change the brigade?
Concerning David's Sin, "You may negate an opponent's male hero and choose it to attack," does this mean that that hero (assuming it's in opponent's territory) is added to battle and the previous hero(es) are withdrawn, or do the heroes already in battle remain in battle and the other hero is added to battle? I'm not understanding how this part of David's Sin ability works.

I'm not understanding how this part of David's Sin ability works."Choose it to attack" is a choose opponent ability, so the other heroes are withdrawn. "Attack" over "rescue" allows it to work during BCs.
