By this time in 2 weeks, nationals will be over, and we will be enjoying the new cards.

To tide you over until then, and to give you Nationals Booster Draft players a chance to prepare strategies ahead of time, check out the Articles section for the latest spoilerific article.

If you find typos in the article, please post here so I can fix them.  I'm finishing this at 2:23 in the AM, and I'm exhausted from getting over an ear infection, packing for a week-long trip (we leave tomorrow), preparing for my wife's birthday (also tomorrow), and running 8 miles with Kurt (I might be sore tomorrow).

Life is good, but I wish I had more hours to sleep.  Anybody got some hours to sell?

I see we have yet another shade of the green brigade, and this one is electric!

I really like the article as it pertains to the Biblical story. Cards that have a game effect similar to their Biblical effect have always been my favorites, and this one definitely adds itself to the list.

Whether or not there's a place for Hosea in my prophet deck, however, remains to be seen.

The whole image just looks brighter in the article for some reason. I don't think that will be how it is printed.

I really like this card. It's simple, Biblically accurate, and useful but not OP. Moreover, I think we now have enough information to determine which themes will be in each set:

XX: Prophets/Babylonians
XXI: Prophets/Assyrians
XXII: Genesis/Egyptians
XXIII: Judges/Canaanites
XXIV: Kings/Israelite Kings
XXV: Warriors/Canaanites

XXII seems to be Genesis(blue)/Genesis(Egyptians). New subtheme, ftw?

Just recalled this from the Foreign Sword article:
Quote
Will the usefulness of good/evil enhancements be enough to make people consider building decks with good/evil brigade combinations like red/black, green/pale green, green/crimson, blue/gold, or purple/brown?
I think that pretty much solidifies all the themes for the tins, except for XXIII.

And they reprinted Abimelech who was both judge and Caananite so that completes the XXIII combo.

Excellent article! I wish the Bible lessons and real-life applications were written about every single card.

I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Whether or not there's a place for Hosea prophets in my prophet Hosea deck, however, remains to be seen.
Fixed.

Booster will indeed be very interesting this year. I would say most of the tins will be very useful. Hosea generates lost souls, which is awesome for booster. [EDITED BY R.O.S.E.S] can do awesome things with [EDITED BY R.O.S.E.S.], and combining that with [EDITED BY R.O.S.E.S.] will make [EDITED BY R.O.S.E.S.] have some serious problems. That's the reason I think that whoever has [EDITED BY R.O.S.E.S.] will win.

Yeah, not unless all the ECs in this set will be OT human banders. I can't think of any particular combos he could pull off with the current card pool.

Well he's a 5/4 Green Prophet with a Hosea 1:1 reference and the ability, "You may capture an O.T. human Evil Character with a band ability to opponent's Land of Bondage. Cannot be interrupted."

I've seen many decks that use archers, so that should gain at least one capture. I would think this would be more helpful in Type 2, but I do not speak from experience.

I guess you could do a self-capture deck, not unlike using Persian Presidents/Raider's Camp with Disciples.

Hmmm, a green prophet that helps in Type 2...is that an 8-lb test, fluorocarbon leader attached to that card??   :o

He's awesome. He can get rid of an evil character without playing an enhancement every battle. Banding evil characters are pretty easy to come by too.

Gomer and Manasseh are pretty big. Lot's Wife might get more popular soon. Archers. There were also a number of banding characters mentioned in the articles, but we have to wait and see how popular those will be. Not that many--I dunno if Hosea will see too much play.

Off the top of my head he'll hurt... Egyptians, Syrians, Persians (mildly), Assyrians (a LOT), Babylonians (a bit), Evil Kings in general, Canaanites apparently, Philistines (depending on who's playing and how), and banding hero who gets converted to an EC.

Also, you can capture /your own/ EC. So it really isn't a problem of having targets. Hosea's meant to be a soul generator, I think he does that rather nicely.

Combine him with a banding offense, or Hidden Treasures, and you've got a nice set up.
