Title: Ark of the Covenant
Post by: burlow on July 13, 2012, 11:32:32 AM
Questions regarding the wording:

1) are the Warrior and Kings versions treated exactly the same (despite different wording)?

2) Going with the Kings version, if there are two evil characters in battle, can they both be discarded at the end of one battle with an activated AotC? Or only 1 discard per battle?

3) Can you put two AotC in a deck and have up to 4 discards per game? Or are you only allowed two discards total, regardless of how many AotC cards are in a deck?

1. Yes, the play as is the same
2. No, the play as says:
Quote
Ark of the Covenant (Ki)

Type: Artifact • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Regardless of battle outcome one Evil Character an opponent uses to block a rescue attempt is discarded at the end of battle. Limit holder to two such discards per game. • Play As: Regardless of battle outcome, discard one Evil Character in play at the end of battle that your opponent used to block your rescue attempt. May be used once per battle and twice per game. • Identifiers: OT, Tabernacle Item, Temple Item • Verse: Numbers 10:35 • Availability: Kings booster packs (Ultra Rare)
3. if you use a 100 card deck

I believe you are wrong there since it says may be used "twice per game," which I believe keeps count for all copies of that card that you have.

As a spinoff to this question, is the limit per holder? If I use Ark to discard, then my opponent takes control of my Ark  somehow, and then he uses it for a discard, would we both still have one more use?

It is a limit per game IMO based on that's how holy grail works.

It is a limit per game, so all copies of that card used by you apply toward that total. I don't remember who said it or where, but I remember an Elder posting that "per game" restrictions are tied to players so if an opponent takes your artifact with a per game limit then they can use it that many times as well. Don't know if that's still the case, though.

It is per player. If, for example, my opponent has King Amazing in his territory both of use can use his CTB once.

Instaposted by browarod.  That discussion he references was either about King Amazing of Jephthah.
