I have heard conflicting reports from many seasoned players stating that Site-Lock is either DEAD or still viable. If you think it is dead, why? If you think it is still viable, why? Discuss!

I don't think it is completely dead but is still playable. Now you just have to play certain colors *coughwhite/teal/phillyscough* lol

Very much alive IF you play someone without key disciples cards

My 50 card Abom site lock and Super Zeb/Servant site lock still do very well, as long as they don't have those annoying Disciples sites or Fishing Boat.

See i played a fishing boat deck in type 2 and had no problem with site access...but type 1 it was awesome pre-di.

Peter's Curse vs the fishing boat, 2 art access killers, and 2 site access killers should be enough. The thing about sitelock is people think it's dead so much that they don't worry too much about lose'n their access like they used to, so it's easier to ditch access now. And since the battle phase requires more battlewinners now-a-days, you get more chances to get rid of their access.

put darius decree in my type 2 because i knew i was gonna play brad and he never loaded up the boat I was like awwwwwwwwwww......lolz

CP only protects sites in territory. Access sites must be used in battle, so CP isn't a problem. Access arts are very easy to get rid of as well. ~~Just toss Peter's Curse for the fishing boat~~ a~~nd probably add in HP+Spreading Mildew+an EG EC for backup~~. Also toss in a couple fbtn guys or use enhancements that make the battle fbtn, for the access characters. That should easily be enough to lock someone out.

None of those cards can target fishing boat, it plays to set aside, they can only target in play fortresses.

You're right about Spreading Mildew. I didn't read the play as. It seems that Peter's Curse still works though, unless the REG is wrong on that card.

I don't have the rule handy, but Wraith is correct that when a card does not specify where it can target (Discard a Hero) it defaults to "in play." (Discard a Hero [in play])

Fishing Boat did a lot to make Sitelock less viable, but the fact that Sites are now in pretty much every deck has done more. Now you'll never be able to catch someone unprepared, because every single deck will be built assuming the opponent is going to have at least a White, Gold, and Red site. Benedictus, Covenant with Levi (also useful for Golgotha abuse), Ends of the Earth, every single deck has access. Sitelock was viable (not good) before because it could catch people unprepared. Now, there's no good reason to play it other than stubborn insistence on not adapting to the new meta.

Site-stall (just try to get your sites out before they get access) mixed with Heretics can work pretty well.

I'll agree though, that the fact EVERYONE is using the new sites plus Fishing Boat has caused a pretty severe hit to Site Lock's strength, Which I find to be a shame. I enjoyed fighting not to kill off my opponents heroes, but rather try and kill their access. It leads to a serious Do-or-Die type of game, because if a site lock deck is unable to remove an opponents access, then they get walked over.

Site lock was never really effective, it was too slow and would often time out. Site-stall (with some access slowers) rocked, especially Gabe's T2

I'll be playing less site access this year. I'll be using sites more for the SA then the "you can't rescue" idea.

And this is exactly why sitelock can still be effective.

People think its dead, don't prepare for it, then it catches them by surprise.

Except not. Maybe it could be viable in fun games or RTS, but in a tournament it's far too inconsistent to pull out the wins with differential you need to win a tournament.

I don't think Site Lock will be very impressive this season due to certain cards, and because most people will be playing with certain sites that most people will have a way or 2 to get in, but sites keeping out heroes will still be common especially since there is more than one reason for the sites now, and often people are caught without their answers when the need them

I agree with much of what's been said. In my experience, you can sometimes stall your opponent for a while with sites, but actual site-lock is very hard. And Fishing Boat prevents a site-lock deck from consistently doing anything, since there's no way to get rid of it. You might be able to beat other decks, but sooner or later you're going to run into a disciples deck and all anti-access cards won't help you.

I agree, and feel that this makes Fishing Boat WAY too powerful.

The boat is not too powerful...you move unique heroes to the bottom of deck to get access...that can be discarded with Darius' Decree if in the boat...you also have to determine how many Disciples are going to be there AND have to be there a whole turn before they gain access...
