The battle for purity is getting difficult.

Hello everyone,
  For a long time I have been struggling with sexual purity, and today I just hit rock bottom after weeks of downhill struggles. I currently do not have much support for trying to get back up again because I try to not let anyone know about it. It will be a long and difficult time in the coming weeks, months, or maybe years. Please pray for perseverance, for forgiveness, for my repentance, and that I would fall on God rather than the things of this world.

Don't let the enemy use this as an opportunity to exploit God's great gift and plan, your eternal life through Him by which all you are is justified for His glory.

This verse contains 3 actions that have meant a lot to the men's small group I've been apart of. It has helped all of us.

1. Run from (lust, temptation ect)
2. Run to (righteousness, faith, love, peace)
3. Run with (brothers who love you, know you and will hold you accountable)

Remember condemnation is from the enemy and brings shame.
Conviction is from the Lord and brings repentance and redemption.

First let me say that admitting you have a problem and that you want to fight it is a great first step.

Second, I will agree with jbeers' first point, which is to "run away." This was the same approach that Joseph used when he was tempted by Potiphar's wife, so it must be a powerful tactic. For me, "running away" means not staying put. In other words, don't sit at the computer if you're tempted to view pornography. Don't hang out after work with other women if you're married. Don't leave yourself in a position where you are likely to fail. So many men try to fight temptation head on, but this will often end in failure.

Third, I challenge you to make a bold prayer. Pray that you will get caught in your sin. Sometimes we don't change things that need to be changed until we get in trouble for it. I think about the woman that was caught in adultery and brought before Jesus. What seemed like the worst possible moment of that woman's life turned into the best day of her life, because she met Jesus face to face.

I pray that God will strengthen and encourage you during your struggle. Feel free to contact me if you ever need to talk further or more intently. I'm sure there are other guys here on the boards that you may know better that would offer the same. We're all in this together, my brother.

Hello all, it has been a while.

I want to thank all of you for your prayers these last few months, and for extraordinary support for me. I want to implore you to keep praying for me because the downhill trend is appearing again, and serious self-control is needed for me to keep fighting. Please keep praying for all our brothers and sisters, that we would seek to worship G-d alone in all things.

May God's grace and mercy find us in those places of struggle and bring us up from those low places. May we not take for granted the blessing of forgiveness offered by God and his people.
