Well, the data did not come from the directors as I expected which saddened me at first, but then a friend of mine from DC contacted me saying that I could still do research using national data, which I was able to request and hopefully will be to me by Monday so I can get back to my thesis and still be relatively on schedule. However, today a new challenge/opportunity has been laid before me. As most of you probably know, I have been tossing around the idea of finding a research position or continuing on to my PHD. After long hours of research and asking for prayer and godly advice, as well as the current state of the economy, I decided to apply to both the University of Maryland and University of Virginia as fallback plans for if I do not obtain a research position after June. Well today, I was offered a fellowship from University of Maryland to start my PHD program with them this fall, which while is nice, is not enough compensation to survive in the DC area. The more urgent factor is the email stated I have until February 15 to respond about the offer...which seems way too small of a timetable, and so I'm praying it's April 15 and was just a typo. I am really hoping that it is time to enter the research field, but I want more than just my thoughts on this matter, and thus I bring it to my family who will speak on my behalf to the author of wisdom.
