New Semester, New Stress
« on: January 22, 2015, 02:10:36 AM »
So a year ago I was coming off a 9 month break from school. I was very depressed during this time, and jumping straight into school was rough. I made a thread about it about halfway through the semester because after getting a terrible job to try to help with the awful financial position I was in, it was becoming too much. I'm still not sure how I made it out alive.

Fast forward to this year and everything is going better. I'm in a fairly decent financial situation, great living situation, I love school, and I'm really excited to start my internship. I'm working at the school helping other student's in the program I'm in (not exactly tutoring, but some of that is involved). I'm also working at a restaurant where I actually make more than minimum wage, and my coworkers are pretty chill (though the job can be stressful).  I'm working on an album for a friend and it's sounding great and is close to completion.

However, despite everything being wonderful, 2 jobs, an internship, and 16 credits is a lot of work. I'm already feeling a lot of responsibility and it's hard to keep up.  I deleted Hearthstone off my computer today because it was getting distracting. I've already turned in two late assignments for one class, one because it didn't submit and one because there was no way to submit it. I e-mailed the professor about it attaching the assignment, but he said it had to be done through the online board. But there was no way to submit it. 0/10. It probably won't effect my grade in a drastic way, but starting off the semester this way has put me on edge a bit. I'm not the kind of person to let these things get me down, but the fact that it happened twice concerns me, in part because I'm not the person to do that, and in part because now the professor probably already hates me. I'm going to try to talk to him about it tomorrow.

So yeah, prayers that I can get through this first part of the semester. I think once I get in the swing of things I'll be okay, but right now there's just a lot to do and I'm pretty stressed about it. Whenever I get this way I have a tendency to procrastinate even more, as if the problem will go away (I mean, I know it won't, I just don't want to face reality I guess).

Last time this happened you won States, so Regionals in a few weeks should be a breeze.

Are you talking Redemption or Pokémon? A Florida vacation would do you both well.  ;)

Pokemon. We're going to St Louis Valentines weekend, but Florida is still on the table depending on his schedule I think!

This is accurate.

As I said, when I get stressed, I procrastinate. Now that Hearthstone is gone, Pokemon is the forefront. I'm going to become amazing if this keeps up.

Things went well with my professor today. The assignments that were late are basically just assignments for our benefit, to make sure we keep up on the main projects, and he doesn't really even grade them, but they can help at the end if you're on the bubble of a grade.
