Girlfriend Broke Up with Me

Hey friends,

My girlfriend of 18 months broke up with me last night in our first conversation after she got back from a month long missions trip to Panama. She felt that God was prompting her to give up the relationship. I talked with her through what she was feeling but to no avail.

I am heart-broken, having never dated before and having grown very close to her. We had told each other we loved each other about a year ago and we were pushing towards marriage in the future. We got along very well and spent time studying Scripture together and praying together. I have never met any other woman I could be as comfortable around as I was around her.

I just started a new job yesterday in a new city (Madison, WI) and there is much to learn. It is very hard to focus as I am hurting. I don't have a support network here. I didn't sleep much last night and today was very rough at work, with me breaking down in tears throughout the day.

Please be praying for the Lord to wrap me in His arms as I seek healing and that I would be able to focus on my learning at my new job amidst this difficult time.

I have been fasting for 4 meals now and will continue to do so, praying for 1 of 2 things:
- For closure and healing from the relationship.  OR
- That God would change her heart to want to continue on in the relationship, as I love her very much and see how God has worked in our lives to glorify Him more fully.

   I went through a similar situation a number of years ago and I know it can be devastating. Remember that God's love for you will never diminish and that he can be your comforter. I'll definitely be praying for you in this difficult time, brother.

i know what you're feeling man. i went through a huge breakup this last christmas after almost a 2 year relationship. i know its really tough now, but it will pass, and things will get better.

Thanks all for your encouragement and prayers. It is hard for me to reconcile in my mind as we had gone through much together. I would love to fight for the relationship but that isn't an option so I am taking it to the Lord and praying that He would change her heart. But I know that His will may be for us to draw apart...

Know its the last thing you want to hear, and having been on your side of this ordeal myself I know it can sound like an annoyance, but brother you and I both know who is in control of this situation. While the hurting is terrible, and even more so being it was a Christian relationship, we have to fall on Jesus and let Him carry us through these trials. This valley definitely is going to be rough, but again remember, your heavenly father knows what is happening and is making you into the person that He wants you to be. Will be praying for the Lord to give you and her both discernment as you go through these next steps in life. Take care bud.

Thanks you all for your prayers and support. It means a lot to me.

God is gracious in my time of sorrow and has wrapped me up in His loving arms, much in part, I believe, due to the prayers of fellow Christians such as yourselves.

I trust God in what He is doing and want to be on board with where He is leading me. My pursuit in on God's glory to be maximized through my life, whether that be without ever being a part of Jessica's life again or with being a part of her life again.

I am continuing to pray that God would bring about (for His Glory) the closure and healing we need or bring about a renewal of our relationship. I would appreciate it if y'all could join me in that prayer. I will be continuing to pray in such a way until God directs me to only pray one way.

Really sorry bro...praying that God uses this situation for His glory. Hold on to that when it seems like nothing makes sense. Healing will take time, but He is faithful.
