My mother needs your prayers again!
« on: March 12, 2012, 09:31:29 PM »
First off, to those who have faithfully kept my mom in their thoughts and prayers, I just want to say thank you. She just posted this earlier today because she is very discouraged.  Appreciate it and God Bless!

Quote
I don't vent very often, but I need to right now.....most everyone knows that I have been fighting cancer for 10 years, my last surgery in November 2010 left me with a trach in my throat. My airway is so damaged that they say that this trach will be for the rest of my life. I have worked for the MCBOE since 1998, haven't worked since my surgery, but love my job. . I don't have many sick days left so I thought I better start checking on different options. Went to the social security office to check on a few things,
here is what they said. My disability income would be $750.00 per month, BUT no insurance for 24 months? Why do (most) people go on disability, because they have a medical condition that prevents them from working.......I can get insurance through the MCBOE for $500.00 per month for just me, no one else in my family. My retirement from the board would be $450.00 per month which would be eaten up by paying for my own insurance for two years. Now I know why people go on welfare and stay on it forever!!!!!
What to do, what to do, what to do................ God is my strong tower.
I ask mainly for the prayer that God restores her faith. After 10 years of cancer with it just seeming to get worse anyone's faith would dwindle. Whatever else you feel lead to pray for would be great to!

I just said a prayer for your mom.  It sounds like she's at a really frustrated point right now, and doesn't really see how things will work out.  I know that can be a hard place to be.  I also know that God is still there with us in those times, and that He still has a good plan even when we can't see it.

Really appreciate it bro!  this, I was looking in my devotion subject index trying to find some things on lust and the first one that showed up was this. God is so awesome.

From "My Utmost for His Highest Daily Devotional Journal" (Updated in Today's Language)

"January 27th
Look Again and Think
"Do not worry about your life..." (Matthew 6:25)
A warning which needs to be repeated is that "the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches," and the lust for other things, will choke out the life of God in us (Matthew 13:22). We are never free from recurring waves of this invasion. If the frontline attack is not about clothes and food, it may be about money or the lack of money; or friends or lack of friends; or the line may be drawn over difficult circumstances. It is one steady invasion, and these things will come in like a flood, unless we allow the Spirit of God to raise up the banner against it.

"I say to you, do not worry about your life...." Our Lord says to be careful only about one thing --our relationship to Him.  But our common sense shouts loudly and says, "That is absurd, I must consider how I am going to live, and I must consider what I am going to eat and drink." Jesus says you must not. Beware of allowing yourself to think that He says this while not understanding your circumstances. Jesus Christ knows our circumstances better than we do, and He says we must not think about these things to the point where they become the primary concern of our life. Whenever there are competing conerns in your life, be sure you always put your relationship to God first.

"Sufficient for the day is its own trouble" (Matthew 6:34). How much trouble has begun to threaten you today? What kind of mean little demons have been looking into your life saying "What are your plans for next month--or next summer?" Jesus tells us not to worry about any of these things. Look again and think. Keep your mind on the "much more" of your heavenly Father (Matthew 6:30)."

Kyle, prayers up.  Mortify yourself, daily.  It does not have to be impossible and unreasonably difficult things.  I have found it quite powerful in God's eyes, and the benefits usually rebound to those who we dedicate the mortification to.  It's just my own experience here, son.  Remember what a king had once done to let him and his kingdom 'wear sackcloth'....'melted' our Creator's Heart.

Peace.
