Large Medical Bills

[Chronic Apathy]

Last summer I had an accident where I broke my back. The details are rather boring, but the short version is I fell off a swing set. Yeah. Anyways, I received a bill today for the ambulance ride, which originally totaled about $1,400, but has since been paid off to only $600. I didn't know this, but apparently my church has been helping with that particular bill. Anyways, the problem is that it has apparently been taken to a collection agency, which worries me, because all the bills are in my name, so my credit is essentially shot without it being my fault, unless this can be worked out. I'm asking for prayers that this can be finished and done with without my credit score being destroyed.

If the collection agency hasn't hit your credit with the bill you can still work out monthly payments with them. You will want to make sure that you can make your monthly payments and they'll agree not to post anything regarding the account on your report when the account is paid in full. A lot of the times collection agencies will work with you because they're not used to people wanting to pay their bill.

P.S. I would confirm everything with a supervisor and you could also get the agreement in writing.
P.S.S. Always start as low as possible with payments and work your way up with establishing a monthly payment. ( You can always pay more each month, but if times are tough, you can't pay less.)
