Car broken into
« on: October 29, 2015, 09:16:43 AM »
My car was broken into in the parking structure at work early this morning. My driver window was completely smashed and a couple things were stolen (that could have been worse so I'm grateful more wasn't taken).

Currently I'm waiting for my claim to process with my insurance company and hopefully they will send someone with a replacement window. Thankfully my mother lives nearby so my car is safely in her garage until the next steps are figured out. Unfortunately I'll be needing to head to bed soon as I work nights.

This was after my internet was out last night at my apartment so it hasn't been a very good day haha. I could use some good thoughts. Praise that it wasn't worse and prayer that I can get it fixed today if possible as I need to go back to work tonight.

I will pray for you as you're dealing with a lot right now.

I only had my car broken into one time.  It was back in college and happened on Valentine's Day.  I was on a double date and we were all watching a movie at the theater.  When we came back out to the car, in the parking lot, the back seat passenger side window was completely smashed in, and there was glass all over the seat.

They had stolen the roses that my friend and I had given to our dates.  I remember being amazed that someone would break into a car just to steal dead flowers.  I was driving, and so my buddy chivalrously gave up his seat in the back to ride in the far back part of the car since it was a station wagon.  Unfortunately it was dark, and we both forgot that we had put the cake back there that we were planning on eating when we got back to campus.  As you may have guessed he ended up sitting on the cake, which made a mess on him and the cake.

All-in-all it ended up being quite the adventure, and we all were able to laugh about it later.  I hope that in time you'll be able to do the same about your circumstances :)

Haha that story gave me a good laugh which I definitely needed. Thanks Prof!

Since my original post I've submitted a police report and am still waiting for an update on my insurance claim.

I was hoping it might have that affect.  You're very welcome :)

Thanks for any unspoken good thoughts! I was able to get to a glass repair shop this afternoon and get my window replaced. Unfortunately I had to pay entirely out of pocket as even if I'd gone through insurance the cost was below my deductible so they ended up just canceling the claim and I just went to a nearby shop.

I got home in time to hit the sack for a few hours (sadly I didn't really sleep at all) and am now back at work hoping and praying that it doesn't happen again.

I moved everything visible inside my car to my trunk so hopefully it won't be as enticing a target now.
