Major Spiritual Warfare- Prayer Needed
« on: April 06, 2009, 06:27:53 PM »
Many of you will remember last year during Easter when I played the role of satan in the production at my church. There was a huge amount of spiritual warfare surrounding me, and it continued to have affects on me for a full year. Anyway, we are doing the play once again this year, and the spiritual warfare has probably doubled, especially during one particular scene where Jesus is praying in the garden as two angels fight with a bunch of demons while satan tries to go after Jesus. Some of the fighters/imp dancers in that scene, and even someone who was watching it on the monitor outside the sanctuary, have been seeing some really icky spiritual stuff going on. One good friend of mine actually saw the real satan while she was fighting and came off the stage shaking terribly, nearly throwing up. I had sensed there was going to be a lot more warfare this year when we kicked it off in January, and I am particularly worried for Justin, as he actually took on the role of satan in the play this year.

If you could all be praying for our next two weekends of performances, it would be greatly appreciated. Pray that the demonic influences would not be allowed to even enter the building and that God would surround the place with his angels and especially protect those playing dark roles. Also pray that the people who come to see it would have their eyes opened as they witness a portrayal of the life of Jesus and how he loves each and every one of them. I will try to post updates of praise reports from any stories I hear or if I personally witness God at work in people's lives. Thanks for your prayers!

God bless,

~Britta

I hope that there was a very large positive response to this play last year.  Otherwise I don't know if it was worth it for you to have the spiritual oppression that you mentioned for an entire year afterward.  Similarly, I hope that there will be a very large positive response this year.  Otherwise I don't know if it is worth continuing to do this play considering the negative effects on the people playing the parts.  Perhaps it would be better to just show the Passion of the Christ.  People would get the same message and the people of your church wouldn't have to go through that.

Prof Underwood:

It's a long story, but bottom line is Satan had a personal vendetta with me for other reasons besides being in the play last year. That was the main reason that it affected me for so long afterward, plus the fact that I made a stupid choice to remain almost completely silent about my struggle. Thankfully, it is finally over and done with. However, I also don't regret playing the role that I did because I know it brought people to Christ.

As for this year, so far there has been a positive response, but we also do it for the long-term. People may not accept Christ right then and there, but we have planted the seed and continue to pray for them, which is all we really can do. And the fact that we are causing turbulence in the spiritual realm would indicate to me that we are making a difference, and satan obviously doesn't like it. But as our director often reminds us, if only one soul were rescued by it, all of our hard work and effort would be worth it. However, we already know of more than that, though I don't have exact numbers. I do know that at least two children have given their lives over to the Lord because of it, which blesses my heart especially, and I also heard of a married couple where one rededicated their life and the other invited Christ in for the first time after seeing it. This in and of itself is enough for us to keep going with it. Besides, we've been doing it for twenty years now. We aren't just going to quit because it's a little dangerous. If all Christians had that attitude, nobody would ever be saved, and then where would we be?

I'm glad to hear about how God has used your play in the past and present, and agree that as Christians, we should not cease doing God's will just because it is dangerous sometimes.  Perhaps your play is presenting something that showing the Passion would not communicate.  I'm glad that you have come through a difficult year and learned important lessons from it :)
