I am also open to suggestions for what gameplay types should be played there. =)

I am going to be attempting to find a place to hold it (My house is too small) and I will post here when I have a place. If anyone has any questions, just post here or PM for info on the October Tourney. Thanks!
They seem pretty lame as fighters maybe we should challenge them to a dance off or a redemption game

Or with it being an impromptu tournament anyways, would Saturday, Sept 8 also work? Steven Prinsen can make that date but can't make Sept 15.

I'd have to check, but I'm betting that could work for me.

Hey Wisconsin players,

Ken and Cheryl currently do not have a place to host tournaments for the forseeable future so it is up to the rest of us to help shoulder the load by hosting tournaments.

Let's use this thread to throw out potential dates and determine who can host. I will keep the top post updated with details. Please chime in on when you could play!

Locklins can't host at either church? That's a bummer. I don't think I'll be going to any tournaments down by you guys until the bigger tournaments, since it's a bit of a drive for me. I would host, but it would be in Oshkosh, and I don't think I could get more than 4 people (myself included) so that's probably not going to happen. Looks like it'll be mostly Green Bay tournaments for me this year...
If you were to go on a trip... where would you like to go?

That and they just had a baby too.

Also, is it possible for someone to give me a ride to Kirk's tournament? My ride is being used otherwise so I need someway to get up to his tournament...

Josh,

The Locklins moved so since they don't attend there I think it was only a matter of time before they couldn't host there anymore.

James,

Not sure who (if any) will be driving. I would ask one of the TriplePlay brothers (Wagenknecht) to see if they are planning to come.

We're planning on coming to the September tournament.
We'll let you know if our plans change.

Looking forward to it.

Thanks Noah. Do you mind weighing in if you are able to make both dates?

To all: I am trying to determine which date to finalize on and will let you know in the coming day or so. I have one person that can only make one and date and not the other and another person that is flip flopped.

I am still looking for a ride to the September tourney.

Also, any suggestions for dates for the October tourney?
(I'm looking at places and would much rather be able to give a bunch of possible dates then finalizing one only to find that no one can come then)

James, could you take the Badger Bus?

Well after teaching 3 people Redemption last night and getting a former player back into it and based on me planning to teach a couple more players this weekend I may have easily a half dozen players from Madison at the tournament. :) I am going to move the tournament location to Union South (downtown Madison) to make it more convenient for players here. With a home Badger game on the 15th at 7 pm it will be hard to get parking earlier in the day so the tournament will be on the 8th.

Great news is that I will now be able to host at least one tournament a month in Madison. Our church just started a lease for an office space and my pastor will let us use the space for tournaments going forward. I don't think it will be ready for this one though. It is a few blocks from Camp Randall - where the Badger football stadium is.

With players in Madison now, I will look to host a tournament each month going forward. With home badger football games most Saturdays in October, the only free Saturday to avoid parking difficulties is October 13. So James you can host one whenever but don't feel like you have to since I will be posting regularly now.

I only have a few copies of NJ dominant and more players than copies - would y'all be opposed to me allowing proxies for NJ only at the tournament? My thought is that if the players are able to play for a period of time with New Jerusalem and then I stopped allowing proxies at a later date many will decide to buy their own copies so they can keep using it.

Glad to hear you've been able to teach so many people and that there will be a space available for tournaments!

If it's going to be an official tournament, you cannot allow proxies, whether everyone agrees to it, or not. It could be refreshing to not have everyone using New Jerusalem since they won't then hold Son of God until they get it.

I know Rob has said in the past that he doesn't approve of proxies, with the exception of alternate art (borderless, etc.) when you have the physical card on hand to show the judge/deck checker. But maybe if you email him and explain the situation, he would ok it for an impromptu local. Alternatively, there is a very small chance that I could come out there for the tourney (read: very, very small) and if I do I would bring my 8 copies, of which I would only need one and could lend the others. Or, if I don't come, I can lend you as many as you need (up to 7). I'd trust you to send them back.  ;)

I'm not sure... I could check it out.

I'm still planning to hold a tournament since I do like to get new players into the game too. (I just let them use one of my extra Decks) and I've always wanted to hold a tournament anyway.

I could borrow you 1-2 NJ's if you need it.

Thanks for weighing in everyone. Good to know proxies are not even an option - makes things easier. I would rather not have people mail cards for me to borrow as it woul basically be a $2+ rental fee (shipping) to get a bunch of them just for a tournament. I will just say the first guys to show up get to use them. :)

In the case of a NJ I have with really bad water damage that doesn't lie as flat as a regular card in a sleeve - can I use a proxie to substitute and have the water damaged one on hand?

If it goes as it did before, we'll probably have both T1 matches together and T2 afterwards. Also Kirk, Plz add that I will also have T2 2P as well

I'm looking at holding it on either Oct. 13th or 20th. Any thoughts on these dates?

To any MN players that may ne interested, Jayden and I will be traveling to this tourney Fri. night, spending the night at Kirk's, then going to the tourney in the morning. We'll be heading back Sat afternoon/evening after the tourney. We can transport up to two more, and Kirk seemed to suggest that he could host everyone. Depending on who comes with us, it would be between $20-25 each for gas. Let me know.

Great question Jayden. T1 2p will be by itself while T1 Multi and T2 2p are paired together. I am still trying to determine which event to start the morning off with. If I do T1 Multi/T2 2p first - the newer players will have a chance to become more familiar with the decks they play with prior to the main category, which could maybe help them play faster in T1 2p.

We will have 4 rounds of T1 2p or 5 if needed. We will play 3 rounds of T2 2p and 3 rounds of T1 Multi.

To any other MN players, I can host everyone so come on down. :)

I realized it made more sense to do T1 2p in the morning so as not to have a 45 min gap between when one event (T1 Multi) finished compared to another (T2 2p) in the morning.

Here is the schedule:
8:30 am - 8:50 am - Deck Check
9:00 am - 12:00 pm - T1 2p (4 rounds - if we have 16 players we will add a 5th round and push back everything 45 min)
12:00 pm - 12:45 pm - Lunch break (Subway, Toppers Pizza, McDonalds, Wing Stop, and several other restaurants within half a mile walking)
12:45 pm - 3:45 pm - T1 Multi (3 rounds)
12:45 pm - 4:30 pm - T2 2p (3 rounds)

Also - if you are able to contribute I am hoping to receive $2 from each player to help cover the $30 tournament fee. If you can't pay then that is okay too as I have thrown this together last minute.

Looking forward to Saturday!

That would be great if you made it James. FYI if you search badgerbus.com it looks like tickets are $20.50 or $18 each way. We would understand if you are not able to make it. If you do come the closest two stops to Union South are those listed as:

- Madison Memorial Union - Bus picks up near the Red Gym (716 Langdon St) - This would be a .7 mile walk to Union South
- Kelleys Market West Wash - This would be a .9 mile walk to Union South.

To all,
Give me a call if you need anything at (904) 263-0972. Looking forward to seeing y'all tomorrow.
