The term "double elimination" reminds me of the time I drove 13 hours overnight to a National tournament, and spent 90 minutes playing cards competitively for the weekend.  Thanks but no thanks.

What if all 3 top finishers had been tied in LS dif. Then what?

I totally agree that Double Elimination is not the way to go unless you have only 4 players in the category.  If we did double elimation with my group the same kids would be eliminated after two rounds and told they were done while others kept playing, that can be real discouraging to a player of any age.  I would hate to got to a Nats, Regional or even a state, play against two good players and lose then have to watch the rest of the day.

As a tournament host I actually really like the swiss style, even with its draw backs (ties occur alot). I like having this tie breaker stuff and if after all this there is still a tie then so be it, things could be worse.
I never want to grow up, hmmm maybe thats why I'm a youth pastor.
