Here is a possible update for SE regionals, but I need to know who's planning on coming. Right now I can do it mid to end July in Georgia that is closer to AL, TN, OH, KY. Thing is Florida never gets to come. So here is what I can do for players driving 4+ hours. If I host in Georgia I can knock down the entry fee for all open categories or take it out for out of state players, I'm sure Clift can provide sleeping arrangements like last year, and I can possibly give gas money to people driving a good distance. If you are interested in coming, but have a good distance to drive PM me and we will work out some gas compensation. But free entry for open, and free sleeping arrangements, and we will work out something to where I can give out some gas money is very considerable I think.
Now that is if we have it in GA. I'm trying to get the most attendees since I plan on putting in for Nationals next year. I understand FL can hardly ever make it which is why I am offering so much help to long distant travelers. The other possibility is in Florida, and I know that takes out the NC family (Kamke and boys), AL- Red and crew, Knoxville boys (Crash and friends), and any KY/OH guys (Crustpope/Prof). I also know that only Clift and myself could make it from GA, which takes out Chris McCravy and Eric Largent respectably. So I think it is more fair to everyone to have SE regionals in GA, but I do see if YMT wants to host. Either way I should be there. So please put in your input and possible dates that ensure the most attendees.

I would like to host it here in Florida. The other groups that you mentioned as being "out" could possibly attend other Regions, whereas, no other Region is remotely close to FL. RTSManiac had mentioned possibly being the host/co-host if we had it here in Orlando. He had mentioned the weekend of July 15-16.

TN and NC are in the East Central Region, which is what I was referring to.

I will be in Grad school classes up to July 7th and after that I have family vacation the last weekend in July (30th or so) so if it is the weekend of the 9th 16th or 23rd  Then I can do it and there would be a high probablility that I could come.  If it is anything else, or if it is in FLA, I cant come.

I completely understand what you are saying, but I am trying to look at the bigger picture. How many attendees, realistically, could you get? I know a regionals is a big deal, but it would really be your playgroup. I am trying to make it fair by providing free entree to out of state, gas money, and free lodging to mainly FL guys to be specific just so you could come. I understand it's a long drive and it is not fair to "hog" regionals every year. But on the other side, I can see GA having far more attendees, let alone states, represent which looks much better when I put in for nationals next year. RTS would be the co-host, and for one day only. That is still hugely up in the air, and I would like to get something solid within the next week or two. If you have a solid representation that would only be willing to go if you hosted it, and by solid I mean 20+, then by all means I would love to join you guys. But if it is just your mainly your playgroup that would be attending, then I think it would be better for me to host here, and provide compensation to out of state players.

I appreciate being included in the discussion, but unfortunately the KY group is probably out of the mix for SE Regionals this year.  We're hosting EC Regionals, and planning on traveling a couple hours North to join the MW Regionals.  But that's about as many weekends as I can realistically take off without my wife feeling too much Redemption anxiety :)

However, we just had 17 players at KY State this past weekend, and most of them are from our own playgroup.  So we are growing, and I'm sure we would love to come down to the SE Region for Nats 2012.  But for this year, neither GA or FL will make a difference in our attendance.  So I'll toss the ball back to you guys :)

We have differing opinions about what is "fair." Having Regionals in GA every year is not "fair" to FL players, since we clearly have the longest drive. None of my players have cars, and I have a new baby. The Ft. Lauderdale guys have a three hour drive just to get to Orlando. The current format effectively excludes FL players every year. In my opinion, that is not "fair."

However, this seems to be more about looking good for future Nats, so you guys do whatever you want. I am in no position to argue or compete with you. I have more important personal concerns than this.

Yeah, I appreciate you including us Ohioans but you guys should really make it more convenient for players in your region. As for you putting a bid in for Nationals next year, I will support you for sure.

I have a great idea!  Lets have it in Nashville, GA.  That way it sounds like we are having it in TN.  It is also about half way between Atl & Orl. and nobody can make it, and everyone will be unhappy!   :P  But really as far as this goes, I can't promise any TN guys regardless of where it is!  So don't worry about doing it for us, it is your region, not ours!
