Tournament Host Questions

I would like to become a Tournament Host for TN, because I've never seen one listed as being in this state.  I have just a couple of questions:

1.  Is there anyone in TN that would be interested in a Tournament.  I have about 10 guys that play right now and I was wondering if there is anymore interest out there.

2.  In the closed deck category.  Do I have to supply unopened E/F decks, or as long as nothing is added to them can I used an open one?

3.  What are the rules on opened packs?  Who keeps the cards the Host or the players who used them?

Added:

4.  Also If I am just wanting to inquire if I can become a host do I still fill out the form with all the tournament information and a check/money order/any money payment?  Or is there a way I can get approved otherwise?

1. There are several players on the boards from TN. I think they are mostly from the Nashville area, so depending on where you are, they may or may not be a good place to check. Polarius, Colin Michael, and Raven are all from TN (though I can't remember if they all still live there for college or not), among others. I'm sure they could help you out. I know Raven often says he wishes there were more tounies in his area, so maybe this could work well for everyone.

2. I don't think you are technically supposed to, but I don't know how that would be enforced. I've attended closed deck tournies where I paid half the fee and used my own starter, as the host provided that option. I would check the tournament guide or email Rob about this though, just to make sure. Obviously if you charge the full ~$10 you should provide a deck and the three boosters to all involved.

3. This depends on the host. Since you are paying for the cards that you provide, I suppose you could charge players less and keep their packs after the tournament. But usually Sealed is more expensive than open categories because players keep the cards they use. That is what is traditionally done, but I've been to tournaments where the host offered a reduced entry fee in exchange for the cards the players received.

4. Check the tournament guide on Cactus to see the requirements for hosting a tournament. Anyone can host who meets these requirements, so long as all of the proper steps are taken.

We do have some tournaments in Atlanta every now and then. Recently, they have been in Dalton (a little more than 2 hours from Knoxville). We'll definitely accommodate newer players and answer any questions you might have. I know it may a bit far to drive, but it's definitely worth it! Just as long as Clift has a deck ready before the category....

Also, if you'd like, I would be willing to come host a tournament up there if you set it up. My parents live in Chattanooga, so it's not that far away from me. Just let me know.
