None of the cards will be legal for the State, but they will be legal for both sealed and regular play for Regionals

1st solution.  Ask for someone who is going to pick you up along the way.
2nd solution.  It's $10 to play all the open events.  Mow your neighbor's yard 1 time and you're good.

I'm hoping to go to the regional tournament, but I doubt I'll have extra room in my van.  I'll know more as we get closer to it.

That makes sense.  You can let her know that I plan on being at the regionals with my two daughters, and there's a good chance that some other Oakdale people will also be along :)

Wyatt I hope you get to make it. We are going to have a pretty big group coming. Mr. Underwood and his two girls, Mr. Waugh and Kyle, Kayleb, Caleb, Ian, Drew and Jed. We have team play, Multi, sealed, and type 1 going on. Also if you can make it i can give you those last two cards. Miss you this summer hanging out at Oakdale. Looking forward to this weekend being my first tournament. in some ways the will be such a fun test, because of all the new people i get to play. Wyatt hope everything is going well.   Mr. Waugh

Well we had a great turn out with 38 people! It was awesome to meet everyone and see all my old friends.

I got tie for 3rd in sealed, 2nd in Type 1-2 player, and 1st in Type 2-2 player. It was a good haul.

Props: All the great people

Slops: Me rulesharking (whats better fun and fellowship, or winning?)

Hey, the host counts as a person!  Just because I didn't play and beat you in sealed doesn't mean I don't get counted!   :P

I had a lot of fun playing this weekend and I was glad to come! I enjoyed meeting people from here on the boards and I actually placed for the first time in any Redemption tournament I had been in! (I got 2nd in Sealed!) I'm looking forward to doing this again next year! :)

Fastest deck I've ever seen!  He did this 2 games in a row that I saw.

It was great to meet you, too, and congrats on the 2nd.  I'll look forward to next year together.

Prof's Tourney Report:
We came in Fri night around 7:30pm and there were a ton of people there.  It was particularly good to see Chris (Crashfach), Clift (RTSmaniac), Jay (Red), Tyler (Mr. Hiatus), Josh (knoxyouthpastor), and Logan again as well as to meet a lot of new players from TN who are learning the game quickly and having a blast.  Some of the ladies even brought cake!

We brought in a big group down from our KY playgroup:
Ian Kratzer
Caleb Stanley
Kayleb Matthews
Drew Wills
Jedediah Wills
Jason Waugh (1st big tourney ever)
Kyle Waugh (1st big tourney ever)
Alecia Underwood
Katrina Underwood
Myself

TEAMS:
We started late and ended in the wee hours of the morning, but it was a great event with 10 teams competing.  I teamed up with Kayleb Matthews who has been my primary partner this year.  Our best success before this tournament was winning the Redemption for Micah tournament last fall.  But we'd actually gone undefeated all season thus far.

Our first round was against a couple ladies from TN who were pretty new to the game.  It was a mother and daughter, and they were fun opponents.  We had a good game and tried to teach them a few tricks along the way to a 5-0 victory.

Second round was against a father and son (Jason & Kyle Waugh).  It was a much tougher game, and ended up 5-3.  However they didn't let it get them down as they worked their way back up the rankings the last couple rounds to end up in 3rd place overall.

I don't actually remember who our 3rd round was against, but the score ended up 5-0 again.

The last round was against Caleb Stanley and Logan (RTSM's nephew).  They had an early loss, but seemed to be back on track.  However things derailed for them in the final round and we had yet another 5-0 win.  We had let them take back some pretty big misplays along the way though so I felt really good about everything.  Going undefeated did of course put us in 1st place, but I was also really proud that my daughters were able to work their way up from a rough 1st round defeat to end up in 2nd place.

Overall, KY ended up taking all 3 top spots in TEAMS.  Meanwhile we had 1 player who decided to try his hand at Sealed instead.  That was Ian Kratzer (defending Nats champion in that category).  He also went undefeated, and took 1st in that event as well.

T1-mp:

After getting to sleep around 4am, we were ready to start T1-mp only a few hours later.  I think I was partly asleep because I don't remember much.  I think I won my first game, then lost the 2nd by getting blown away by Jay decking out on turn 2.  I won again in my 3rd game which put me in the championship game for the final round.

The other players were Caleb Stanley (who'd won every game so far), Jay (who was also 2-1), and Logan (who was 1-2 with some 2nd place points).  Both Caleb and Jay were actually playing similar decks and Jay again decked out on turn 2.  It was a super close game, and after a while Caleb and Jay, were tied with 4 LSs each, while Logan and I had 2.  It was my turn and the only LSs on the table were in Jay's and my territory where we all knew he could block with Foreign Wives.  But I also knew that I wouldn't be able to hold off Jay AND Caleb, so it wasn't getting back around to me.  Therefore I had to draw my SoG/NJ, and my deck was small.  So I put 4 under from Feast of Trumpets giving me 4 more and finishing the combo.  I played SoG/NJ to tie up with the leaders at 4.  But neither Caleb nor Logan drew any LSs in their 4 cards, so I still had no chance to take #5.

I then played Mayhem and drew a new 6 cards with everyone else.  But alas neither Caleb nor Logan drew any LSs again.  So out of 20 cards I made them draw not a 1 was a LS.  I went ahead and attacked Jay anyway, and as expected he blocked with his invincible Foreign Wives.  My chances were over.  Then Jay attacked me by using a TGT hero considering I didn't have more than 1 EC left of any brigade.  However, he had forgotten that Logan hadn't played Christian Martyr yet, and that ended up costing Jay the game.  But right afterward, Caleb attacked and got the walk-in LS for #5 and the undefeated championship.  Jay came in 2nd, and I ended up in 3rd.  There were actually 2 guys in a lower game that would've passed me for 3rd if they'd won their final game, but thankfully Drew Wills won that game and saved my placing :)

T1-2p:
The main event had 30 players, including the top players from GA (RTSmaniac & Mr. Hiatus), AL (Red), KY (Caleb and myself), and TN (hosting).  So it was going to be a great tune-up for Nats.

My first round was unfortunately against my daughter Alecia.  She played well, but in the end lost 5-3.

My second round was against Jedediah Wills.  He also played well, but ended up losing 5-3 as well.

My third round opponent was against his older, more experienced older brother Drew Wills.  He almost beat me, but I was able to barely squeak out the win 5-4.

Fourth round was against Logan who was using RTSmaniac's deck and who had been having a lot of success with it.  Again it was a super close game, but I was able to just barely get the win again 5-3.  It actually could have been 4-3, but Logan decided to save his Haman's Plot for the final round since he would've still been losing anyway, and if he won the last round he was likely to get 2nd place overall.

My last round was against Jay (Red).  He had been on fire that day and had already beaten both Tyler (Mr. Hiatus) and Clift (RTSmaniac).  We were the last two unbeatens, and going head-to-head in person after playing each other many times online.  His draw was good, and he started off very aggressively.  Amazingly I was able to hold him off several times despite some very high-percentage rescue attempts on his part.  Some of them were even pretty sneaky and unexpected.  Unfortunately though he wasn't drawing LSs despite me feeling confident of taking some.  Then to make matters worse his mid-game Mayhem reset my hand much worse than it had been and so by the time he had LSs available, I no longer had the offense I needed to get them.  At the same time my defense was giving out, and things were not looking good.

By the time he was decked out, he had 4 LSs, and was going in for number 5 with several battle-winners still in hand.  I actually had options in my hand to deal with 3 of the 4, however the 4th one was impossible for me to overcome, and so he broke through for #5 and the undefeated championship.  Annoyingly if I'd been able to stop that last rescue, I'm pretty sure I would've won 1st place myself.  However with my low differential I went from the championship game to finishing 4th overall.  Red came in 1st of course, Clift came in 2nd, and Caleb Stanley ended up in 3rd.  Caleb finishing 1 spot ahead of me was even more annoying since he did the same thing at Nats last year (11th to my 12th).  This is just going to give him more cause to rub it in my face :)

Overall:
Chris was a great host as always.  The fellowship was great, the food was good, the prizes were generous, the competition was high, and the games were close and fun.  The East Central region continues to be strong, and seems to even be getting stronger.  Considering that most other parts of the country over the last 6 years have experienced a downturn after hosting Nats, this is very unusual.  Perhaps we should have Nats in TN more often :)
