D.  LODGING

FREE lodging option:  We are blessed with free lodging at the church venue from Wednesday to Friday.  You must fill in the pre-registration form (coming soon) if you wish to sleepover at the church venue.  Only floor space is available (no beds nor beddings).  A 'widow's might" donation (minimum $10 for your whole stay) is requested from free lodgers.

You must bring a sleeping bag if you need one.  B.O. patrol strictly enforced.  Please shower daily.

The church basement has two rooms that will serve as sleeping areas, one for female and one for male participants.

The sanctuary will serve as overflow area for sleepover.  The church pews can comfortably serve as beds.  However, please take extreme care because they are pristine.  We discourage sleeping over at the attic/choir area although it is a perfect make-shift bedroom in itself.  It is pretty elevated and we are concerned about safety of people who will opt for that area to 'camp out' at.

E.  TOURNAMENT HANG OUT AREAS

The church has generously allowed its sanctuary to serve as hang out area as well as overflow area for both tournament and sleepover.  The floor space at the back of the church pews of the sanctuary is large enough for all players to hang out in.  Please respect the church sanctuary as it is where Our Lord makes fellowship with us.

Players may also use the backyard to hang out as they wish.

F.  RESTROOMS / SHOWER TENTS

The main floor of the church has two brand new male/female bathrooms apart from two in the separate male and female bathrooms in the basement.  There are so far not enough $ donations for a shower trailer but two private shower tents are going to be provided instead.  Each shower tent is 2-room (changing room/shower room).

G. NURSERY

The church has a nursery room for those who will travel with toddlers.  it is equipped with toys and a baby changing table.

H.  FOOD

Inexpensive food places and supermarkets abound at walking distance.  Apart from deli stores nearby, players can walk to KFC, McDonalds, and White Castle to name a few.

Since the church has a fully functional kitchen, the event will also offer meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and snacks at reasonable prices beginning breakfast on Thursday.  Food service ends after lunchbreak on Saturday.  Snacks will still be served until the end of the tournament.

I.  THE LIRR (Lynbrook Station)

The LIRR train station in Lynbrook is an easy walking distance from the church venue.  It can conveniently take you to Manhattan and back.  You can also go as far as the train goes east on Long Island.  The Lynbrook station takes you to Central Station -- the hub of train trips from Manhattan and beyond.

T1 Multi-Player has been moved to Thursday.  Please create a new thread if you think this change merits discussion.  Do not discuss any possible issues regarding the change on this thread.  With the new starters taking its first official Nats debut and to give chance for T1 players to play an event they can afford more on Day 1, thus this change.

Again the same problem arises every year. In the southern states school starts back that same week. If the scheduale could be 1 week up or down...Did I mention every year?

I'm still not 100% certain if I will leave on Wed or Thurs for Nats, so I will ask to take my name off so someone who wants to go in the van has that offer. I can always drive myself to the tournament.

Roy is there a "first come first served" on sleeping arrangements? What's an estimate size of the sleeping space?

There should be enough room for all who will want to sleep over at the church.  Why, are you planning to bring 100 players in, just from your end?

See you in a few months.

Just FYI, after looking at the summer schedule, Gretel and I have realized that seven years in between visits to NYC (where we met) is WAY too long! Looking at plans to be there that weekend!

1. Is there any kind of official or recommended hotel to use that is within reasonable distance to the church?
Side note: I would love the economically awesome free use of the church, but the male & female exclusive rooms will make it difficult for my wife to put my 6 y.o. boy to bed in the "guy" room unsupervised.

2. Also, what is your recommendation of staying in (much cheaper) NJ and taking the trains to the location?
Follow up question:  If you had to travel by train, then how long would it take you to get to the Jersey Garden's Mall?  [I am aware that the PATH does not go all the way to the Mall but to a stop 15 minutes away (to Newark I think).]

3. If I'm coming down I-86, then what is my mostly like route to cross the Hudson to your location: i.e. will I have to navigate the traffic congestion into the Lincoln Tunnel?  -->If you don't know this, then that's fine...I was planning to look it up once my hotel questions were answered, but I figured you would know since you likely traveled I-86 to get to and fro Marc's tourneys in Courtland.

I had not seen this before.  I am planning on staying at the church.  I assume that it will be OK for me to have my 2 young daughters (ages 9 & 7) stay in the same room as I do, right?

On #1: Admittedly, I've not been to the official site to pre-register until I have everything nailed down.  I will have to look at that...thanks for the link Mark.

On #2: Laurie and I was looking under lodging and she brought up the concern.  I can see how the same problem (though reversed sexes) could affect you as well.  Lodging states different rooms, so we just assumed for the younger ages as well.

For Mark: We are a little more than halfway to NYC (from KY...about directly half for Cincinnati) if you are driving.  Travis' group stopped at our place on the way to Boston for a night's rest in 2010.  I am curious if you would like a similar offer (if so, then I will mention it to my wife).

Yes, another son is coming to Nats!  JFK is best and nearest but La Guardia might be cheaper to fly into.  Just PM me your itinerary and remind me to leave you my phone number.  You can also text Clift to get it sooner if you need it.  You should call me when you are sure about your arrival time so that someone can pick you up.

See you soon!
