Texas Tournaments

I have finally been able to pencil in two dates for the State and Regional Tournaments.

How is June 4th for States and July 23rd for Regionals.  They will be at The Life Church in Dallas.  I will fill you all in on time of day for the events this week.

In all likelyhood there will be three sessions with 2 to 3 choices for each session (Type 1-2 Player, Type 2-2 Player and Closed Deck);  The Type 1 and Type 2 Multi-Player events after lunch and then Booster, Team Play to wrap it all up.

Please let me know if you will be able to host out of town guests overnight.

I sent in the applications in regards to The State and Regional Tournaments.  Please let me know if you plan to attend but are out of the area.  I will try to arrange host families to offer a place to rest your weary Redemption head for the night (Saturday nights).  Each tournament will rn just one day but it will be a long day with 3 sessions.

Please let me know if you plan to attend either or both tournaments.  June 4th and July 23rd.

I know, Stephen.  Sorry about that.  I have so many family obligations that had undefined times that it made it difficult to find a secure time to schedule any events at all.  June 4th is just around the bend.  There are 6 promos for State, the newest to me are Haaman and Laban.  We will try to start as close to 9 am as possible.  The sooner everyone arrives and has their deck checked the better.

Type 1 and Type 2 events will be $4 each.  The Closed Deck will be $7 and the Booster will be $20 and will offer a Tin (FooF) or (RoA), a pack of Disciples, and 2 other as yet undetermined packs (Angel Wars, Womens, Thesaurus, etc.)

9:oo am:  Type 1-2 Player (5 rounds) and Type 2-2 Player (4 rounds)
Lunch Break
2:00 pm (time approximate):  Type 1-Multi (3 rounds) and Type 2-Multi (3 rounds)
Dinner BreaK
6:00 pm (time approximate):  Booster Draft (4 rounds) and Closed Deck (3 rounds)

Yeah, I know that's a loooong day, but that is the only way I can offer Texas State this year.

If you are only wanting to participate in one event, please call me (972-948-2304) to make sure that you do not miss the start of that event.

As usual, players can opt for all they can eat pizza for lunch/dinner for $2 or dine out on own, bring own lunch/dinner stuff.

I will post any changes.  Hope to see as many of you as possible.  Call me if you have any questions.

I just had June 18th open up on my calendar.  I plan to offer another District Tournament.  I was wondering whether to offer a Local instead.  If I can get feedback quickly for preferences, I'd appreciate it.

June 18th sounds great to me as well.

Just in case you'd like a count for June 4th:

Ben will be playing:
Type-2 2 player
Type-2 multi-player
Closed Deck

Jordan will be playing:
Type-1 2 player
Type-1 multi-player
(Not sure about the sealed category, I'll ask him as soon as I can)

I don't have enough points for it to count either way, but I do like being able to win packs for third in districts.  However, if others need local points, that would be fine, too.

We played our last District tournament last Wednesday.  I was surprised to see so many new and returning players.  First, a big welcome back to Joe Schaefer who has recently enlisted in the Navy and Chris Gressens (formerly Airforcedude) known now as bluefrog who has recently returned to the DFW area.  Both these fine young men interjected a lot of energy to our playgroup.  I want to welcome Adam (a friend of Chad Soderstrom), John (from E. Texas) who will be making contacts with churches in his area to introduce the game of Redemption and Howard.  These 3 guys played their first sanctioned tournament.

As for the results, pretty much same old same old.

Type 1 events were won by John Jacob Martinez.  The rest of us just jockeyed to place.  Chad placed second and Joe placed third in the 2 player event while Adam and Chad placed 2nd and 3rd in Multi.

Over in Type 2 land Marcus Parker came in 1st while Ben Shadrick took 2nd and Buddy Dunn 3rd.

Booster Draft was also won by Marcus with Buddy Dunn placing 2nd and Neeka Parker grabbing 3rd.

In Closed Deck, Howard beat out the youngest player in our group (7 yrs old) Noah as he won the rubber game.

We are looking for to our biggest tourtament of the year, Regionals, on July 23rd.

Looking forward to Jon's return (missed most of this year due to HS studies, etc. and some of his friends.

We are anticipating a fantastc 2011-12 tournament year.
