We already have forums for Redemption. Just because you're dissatisfied with them doesn't mean that that is going to change, nor does it mean that people are going to flock to your forum. I admire your dedication (in your shoes I would quit before creating a whole new forum, so you're certainly more ambitious than I), but I wouldn't get your hopes up. Good luck either way.

Zardeck was dissatisfied with how the boards did tournaments and how the reg did card browsing so he made RC! I don't see you complaining about that.

1. Red is officially going through the cycles of the Raven.
2. Why did you make a new Redemption site with the same features? All it serves to do is potentially kill some of this board and then die itself. What do you hope to gain?
3. Logistically, I doubt your tournament can take place.
4. If everyone thinks the forums are so bad, how come they never get any better? - This is a rhetorical question, because I know the answer.

Because very little meta discussion takes place on this board and no articles are posted thus the players that aren't stay not good unless they live in a area with a high amount of good players. The people's stubborness of not taking new things for what they are good for is ultimately stagnating this game and people need to open their minds.

We have open minds in Florida.

What new things are you referring to, exactly?

Any effort I've had at trying to expand this game in some way has been shot down or brushed off as "we already have that". Just because you have doesn't mean you couldn't have a better one.

Swiss for X rounds. Depending on number of Swiss rounds, top X Swiss players after those rounds proceed to single elimination. The standard system all other CCGs go by.

A is what this is about. And the difference is that this tournament will have niceish prizes and will test a new style of tournament Redemption has never done before.

I guess, but I hate, hate, hate single elimination. One bad draw and suddenly you get to wait for everyone else to finish while you don't play.

While I don't agree with the idea that not enough Meta discussions go on through this board (we have entire boards dedicated to that...), I do like the idea for the style of tournament you have described.

I'm hoping to host an elimination tournament myself in Maryland at some point in the near future, by having several rounds of Swiss determining the seeding for a single elimination tournament (obviously wouldn't be big enough to need a top-cut ).

I'm also hoping to go to Nationals, but this would be my first time, so my question is: When do things like this (and all the other side/unofficial things) take place?  Would it even be logistically possible, as others have asked?

That's what I was saying (to Lambo on IM), it would be logistically impossible to do this tournament (with 1 hour rounds, mind you) even off-hours. And the last thing a Redemption player wants to do after playing 10 rounds of Swiss for the regular Nats tournament is play MORE Redemption. So it would be either this tournament, or the actual Nationals tournament.

Maybe I should host this tournament some other time... but the idea remains in my head....(Tournament canceled. Bad idea) But I plan on hosting a simalar tournament some other time.... maybe online....

I think trying a tournament like this is worth it if there are enough players who want to try it, but Nats (or any other big official event) is probably a bad setting logistically. However, getting all the interested players together apart from those events might be even harder.

Of course, if the prizes are REALLY niceish...

(For the record, I wouldn't be interested, because I'm just not a very good player. But I know there are some who really would like a cutthroat format, so if you can do it, go for it.)
