Disneyland is boring. Disney World is where it's at.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

If it is in So. Cal., you have Disneyland, Sea World, Knotts Berry Farm, San Diego Zoo, LA Zoo, Six Flags, Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, Medieval Times, The Wax Museum, Dodger Stadium, Anahiem Stadium, San Juan Capistrano, Lego Land, Deep Sea fishing, ocean boardwalks, Palm Springs, Wild Animal Park and a myriad of other places of interest all within approximately 15 mins - 3 hrs. If planning on making a vacation out of it, there is alot to offer. You have LAX, San Diego, Ontario, and Orange County as major airports that I can remember off the top of my head (depending on where in So. Cal. Natz was held). All these activities are just scratching the surface of what is around there. Southern California can bring the numbers that will get attention for a National Tournament. So, start saving, pack your bags and plan on visiting Southern California for Natz '09.    :2cents:     ;D

Pfft Fl has epcot, MGM, Animal kingdom AND disney world. We also have Sea world, bush gardens, wonderworks, and probably some things I am forgetting. Not that I am arguing for FL to go cuz we simply don't have a super duper large playgroup atm but as much as attractions go, I think FL is winning. We also have tons of beaches within an hour drive.

Besides... Chuck Norris lives in Southern California.

What if Chuck Norris played Redemption? He could eat Bucklers and create Faithful Servant Promos with his beard.
He helped Huckabee win Iowa... I'm calling him!

all you from CA do realize the reasons you can't come out to us are same reasons we can't come to you

That is an invalid argument.  If the regions are the same size, than your argument also states that we can't have it on the east coast because it is too far for US on the west coast to travel.

its not an argument its a statement

Ok, seriously guys, if you have nothing useful to say with this thread please just read it and move on...we know the reasons people want in MN, we know the reasons people want it in CA, we know the reasons people want in GA and TN and Timbucktu and Anarctica, Istanbul, Australia and/or  the moon...we get that...now comes the work...make your opinions matter. Come around your playgroups and submit a bid. This pettiness of which area is better because of super population or whatever is getting old...

One of my big selling points for hosting the tournament in Columbus, OH was that some 2/3 of the U.S. population is within a day's driving distance.  The simple fact of the mater is that the bulk of the population is on the East Coast and Midwest, and most of the remainder (in terms of major population centers) is spread out along the southern states and the area west of the Rockies.  The argument that some players have to fly all the way over to our side of the country is outweighed by the large number of players who would have to fly three to five times farther than they've ever had to drive/fly in their lives.  That's not to say that the tournament cannot or should not be held in California, only that the "we come to you, you come to us" argument is not logistically balanced.

The people who acknowledge this imbalance, and say "we just want one every ten years or so" are on the right track.  My one concern with making next year the one year is that the economy is probably going to take another year or so to level off, and people might not be inclined to make that huge trip in those tight circumstances.  Attendance in Columbus, a far more accessible location, was down some 30% from our early projections, and we were REALLY glad to still have that many people attending, and the worst of the housing slide hadn't even hit at that point.  Any tournament in 09 will be lucky to approach 150, but I think Cali in 09 would be even lower still.

Although the only way I would be able to make it is if it were in Minnesota, I do think Ohio would be a great place to host.

That's true Schaef, I never thought about that. So it's more like CA 2010, so after the economy corrects itself, we'll be more able to make the trip.

And, I agree with Schaef. You guys DO deserve it once in awhile, but the economy is something that should be taken into consideration. The minute the Shipwreckers thought that CA was going to be considered... well, some of us panicked. LOL.

And once again, the point is not that we need one in Cali so that everyone can make it, just in a different location. The point is that the CA players need a natz, not everyone else needs to come to CA for natz. It's about the players, not the location. If you've seen my thread, I will be hosting tourneys in my San Diego area, and Bryon and Mr. Wolfe are already hosting touneys is CA. That makes three tourney hosts for 3 different groups of people that all would go to Natz. That alone would be about 80 people(my grout should be about 6-10, depending on how many people can make it). So my point is this: even if NO ONE else can make it (which is not the case) I think the CA people alone should be enough of a reason to make in in CA once in 15 years. We just want a chance. Perhaps we'll suprise you and we won't have such fewer people after all. :)
