43 players at your regionals translates to about 70 total at Nationals. California is on the very edge of the country, and don't say "like New York" because it isn't. The vast majority of players live eastern-midwest and east from there.

That said, GA for Natz '09!
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Iowa is best because it's central

We all want Nats to be close to each of us but the honest truth is the west coast has never gotten a Nats and if this game is to grow out here there has to be something to help add excitement.  Alot of the top players out west who like trying to get the RNRS titles know they can't do it because they can't go to Nats ever.  I've placed in the top 3 for Type 2 2 player RNRS twice but I know I can never win it because I can't go across the country to play in Nats.  I'm not asking for every year to be in California but once every three or four years isn't too much to ask to help grow the game we all love across all the U.S.A.

In fact the simple rumor of the next Nats being in California has caused me to begin playing again.  I had sold all my cards and just stopped playing because although the game is fun I like to have a chance to win a Nats or something like that.
I never want to grow up, hmmm maybe thats why I'm a youth pastor.

NY even had low numbers...

I want GA because I know I can't get to CA and enjoy going to nationals and hanging with my friends ALOT.

North Central Regionals had 40+ (easily) as well as players from 5 or 6 different states.

Since I now live in Florida, I would love to have Nats in Georgia since I could actually go.

With that said, I will repeat what I have said in past threads regarding this topic. The west coast deserves a Nats. It's time for change...... again.....  8)

As the regional tournaments were finishing, I had a whole thread devoted to the exact counts at the regional tournaments this past year.  I got the counts from every regional tournament in 2008.  None topped 35.

It is simple fairness: so far there have been 14 nationals on the east side of the Rockies and 0 nationals on the west side.  1 nationals in the West every 15 years isn't too much to ask, is it?  The players in the west have been asked to think of the players in the east for 14 years.  Can the players in the east think of us for once?

I do agree... and I would be more inclined to agree if there would be a way you could provide free lodging. The plane ticket is cheaper than Shipwreckers going to MN... and the furthest west I've been is Columbus, OH. So it'd be pretty sweet.

So, CA or GA for Nats 09!

CA for Nats' 09! And we'll have a bigger group this year than last year even. I have alone taught about 6 new people how to play.... we're trying.... perhaps a national tourney is exactly what we need to boost out showings.
As a national champion, I support ReyZen deck pouches.

I personally think it's a bad Idea to put Nats in California because yes you had X people but that X number of people is probably not enough to support a national tournament, and you can't count on people traveling out to Cali in the middle off the summer when everything is the most expensive

That last argument doesn't work. NY is Very pricey.

I would't mind taking a trip to California. I think they should have a Nationals sometime soon. I would just make it part of a family vacation.
