Restricted format?

Have any hosts out there tried this out?

There had been a plan to use it for the upcoming T2 Only tournament (just for T2 MP), but now it sounds like most people would rather not. Just wanted to see if there was any feedback from anyone who has tried it (T1 or T2) in their tournament.

I was not around the boards much when it was being discussed but thinking it over, I would much rather see the T2 restricted limits be 4 and 4. With the decks generally being twice as big as T1, it makes sense.

Perhaps this is something that can be discussed for next tournament season and will be used more often as a result.

Ken Locklin hosted a tournament or 2 where T1 2P and T1 MP were played in the restricted format. Having played in at least one of them, I don't mind it overall, though it was hard to decide which Dominants to use, as well as what cards to replace the other ones with.

The restricted format for T2 MP was ugly. All it did was slow games down and cause more time outs that normal.

After thinking it over some more, I'm not completely convinced that was the case  (at least in my games).

Round 1 was not a time-out, though I think John won on the final round. Still he got to 7, and I think with one more turn I would have gotten to 7 as well.

Round 2 was definitely ugly but that was more about Soul drought for everyone. Pretty sure that all of us had at least 3 or 4 turns with nothing to attack for, and it was a 4-4-3-2 final score I think?

Round 3 was a time-out, but I won with 6 and would have reached 7 with one more turn (unless my deck had been shuffled I would have drawn into New Jerusalem with another turn).

After all, the game where 2 ANBs were played finished in time...because there were Souls available.  :P

I think it was one of those "correlation =/= causation" type deals so don't get too excited there Mr. ANB  ;)

It wasn't pretty, but I don't think it was too much different than last year. It seems that whenever you have alot of good players in a type 2 multi game there is a good chance you will time out. I had hoped it might speed things up but it definitely did not. I won't be using restricted again for type 2.

T2-2P was just as bad with time outs, if not worse. I think the issue is with defense in T2, not with dominants.
