booster teams sounds even more fun...
I agree that Booster TEAMS sounds fun.  But Booster is fun already.  The beauty of Sealed TEAMS is that it has the potential to take one of the least fun events and actually make it worth playing :)

Exactly.  With 6 decks to split among the teammates there can be some interesting deck building strategies.  Plus the balance of the decks will make Teams more enjoyable.  I dont like the way Teams is going with an emphasis on speed and the Sog/NJ combo

It's great to see Sealed TEAMS gaining traction.  When we did it, we also randomized the teammates, placing experienced players with newer ones.  I'd love to play it again.

I will organize the sealed teams portion of the tournament if that would be acceptable JP.

I really like this idea too.  When I was originally designing the TEAMS format, part of my thinking was that it would be a great way to teach the game.  By mixing experienced and inexperienced players, it gives the chance for the veteran player to teach a lot of neat tricks to their partner as they play together.

The players in MN could support you by having a sealed teams event at our November tournament. Players would make a donation to play and we would send you the money we collect.

Maybey every play group could host a sealed teams in November so it could trully be a National event/fund raiser.

Now that is good thinking. I really like that idea as well, especially for those who would not want to travel so far or would rather their travel expenses be donated to the cause. Nice wild Bill!

Any chance I could either car pool or meet up with the North East group coming from Rochester?

I would also like to hear some travel plans for groups driving through western PA.  Olijar, I can get myself up to the Pittsburgh area Friday the 4th if you are planning to go.

I very much regret that it appears that I probably won't be able to make it to this tournament after all.  My daughters have a Bible Quizzing tournament that weekend which will mean that my whole family will be traveling elsewhere.  I really wanted to come, and hope to make it next year!

What are the travel plans for the MA and NY playergroups? Could I meet up with you guys somewhere and follow the caravan down?

I take I-86 to Erie, PA where I pick up I-290/90 (?) and head to Cleveland.  At Cleveland, I get on I-271 (?) until I get to I-71.  I typically come down I-71 then cut across I-? from Columbus to Dayton where I pick up I-75.  The church is a quarter mile off I-75.  But that's me.*

I'm not sure how Randall and I will connect up (assuming he is wanting too).  Also, I'm not sure when I'm heading down just yet.

I am tentatively planning on coming, but hopefully hitching a ride with Old Man Greeson. However, like Randall, a lot of elements have to fall into place for this to work. Does anyone know of somewhere in PA that's close to Greeson's route, where I could possibly stash my car for a day or two? Money is a big concern for me, as I currently have $60 to my name, and it's all going to specific places. I would love to support Matt, albeit with more emotional support than financial, but as I mentioned, everything has to fall into place. I suppose prayers come in here.

Your best bet would probably be some kind of arrangement with Alex.  Of course, that's assuming he's gonna be going, in which case I repeat my question about travel plans from Pittsburgh.

The bad news:
Only one person auditioned for the play I was going to direct....
Good news:
...on the 5th!

There's a good chance I'll be coming.

Yeah, I am thinking about it. If something with Greeson doesn't work, the 3 of us could try to drive with my car, I probably get the best gas mileage (around 28 on highway I think).

That's about what I get. Plus, if we take my car, we won't have to find a place for me to stash it. I'm also talking to Matt Townsend about also coming with us. We could theoretically then, fit one more (I also have a lot of trunk space). Anyone from PA looking at possibly going? It's starting to sound like shoving five of us in a car is a better option than having someone pick us all up.

I am a big man, so I'd be ok with 4.

But yeah, I'd be fine with riding with you. Anything to cut out gas. I've been the church before as well so I shall guide.

Well so have I, so I can also guide. Also, I'd prefer five rather than four, as that cuts down on all of our total gas costs. We can just work out a system (depending on who all we end up with), to make it work. Let me put this out as an official offer then:

If anyone from Pennsylvania would like to carpool to this event, let me know. We will try to get five of us in a vehicle, for (hopefully) around $20 of gas each (maybe a bit more, depending).

The chances of me making this tournament have actually gone up since I last posted.  I'd say it's around 65% at this point.

There is also a decent (30%) chance that I'll be able to bring along a few people with me :)
