Hey gang I've been off the grid for a while, and I'm trying to get a local tournament started. I was planning to schedule it in the beginning of April, so let me know if you have any input. Location would be Hanover Wesleyan.

Yeah that's why I'm hoping we can have a local first to also discuss with the MD crew when they're planning to host states.

Booster with copies of tin 26 for everyone? I feel like this could be great for some the older players who are getting back into redemption and for some of the younger players to get their hands on some new powerful cards. Also it would make an awesome booster in that everyone will have some level of defense. Brad can we make this happen? Does everyone want to do this?

also are we thinking

9:00 t1-2p running with t2-2p (assuming only 3 rounds of t2-2p at most)
12-1pm Booster and lunch put it in the middle to encourage people to play?
4:00pm t1-multi running with t2-multi (this is assuming t2 multi would only need 2 rounds at most)
7:00pm ceremonies?

I can make that happen, just so long that people let us know ahead of time if they're coming and if they're playing booster draft. It's difficult to get rid of multiple tins, and I can't afford to have a lot on hand, so it would be a first come, first serve with no extras.

It looks like I should be able to come to this, though I am confused, are you saying having a booster where all players get the exact same tin, and that tin being 26? While I think that is an interesting concept, I don't know how well that will work. Tin 26 is not one I would recommend as a staple for that sort of event, but that's my opinion.

Tin 26 has some nice cards but not for booster. Everyone having the same cards in their deck would make a bad booster IMO. But I won't be there so my opinion doesn't count.

The reason I argue for tin 26 only is tht it would create an interesting defensive dynamic. Fool LS, foreign wives, scattered and foreign spearmen all provide a strong boost to normally weak and useless booster defenses. King Abijam being a hero or evil character creates a solid hero or EC for a booster. Golden Cheribum is not as powerful sense people won't be pulling out SoG, NJ ect and could allow you to play the 1 hero and 1 Enhancment that you otherwise wouldn't because the odds of drawing them together is to low. Temple priests is a nice real character and temple dedication could be fun for pulling out laver, GC, HoH ect. I think it could be a lot of fun. Obviously if I am out voted I understand I just think every card in the tin can be used and it's gets the newest cards out to new and returning players. Before it comes up, I don't think saying that everyone will all use all the cards is to big of a deal consider what happens in sealed. Also Tin 26 seems like it would be easier to move for Brad to unload (if there are extras) then others due to its usefulness and playability.

The other thing we could do is a totally random tin draft 1 through 26 and Brad and I could come up with a way to determine which tins will go in what seats ahead of time so he doesn't order to much of something he won't be able to move later.

Foreign Wives and Foreign Spearmen do not actually help, if you think about it. The former has a great special ability...in the meta. Most of the drawing stuff that it counters (that D2 or more) is not going to be found in most booster decks, and the stuff that does draw does not D2 pre-block. Now, she can play all brigades, that is great. However, Spearmen is simply awful in booster because he can't actually play enhancements, and almost all evil enhancements have very low strength, the stat that matters (at the very least, much lower than the standard good enhancement).

Scattered works, and the Fool LS is at least useful, but on the whole, it wouldn't boost defense as much as you think.

On using all vs some tins, experience has shown me that you want to keep 'generations' of tins together. Mixing old and new tins together is awful, as the old tins are just not as useful and will almost always lose. I would recommend not doing this, but I could help you out with determining tins how we have done in the past. Let me know if you need help

I disagree the spearman won't be useful in booster. I believe Toss could cripple many hero's of players at the table. Also what is obviously the best thing to draft in booster? FBTN hero's and if spearman is negated, again he can play any evil enhancement in a deck. Also his ability to be banded for more access to all brigades on defense increases his worth. I am slightly familiar with booster at this point in my career and am completely aware of the fact that we won't exactly be overwhelmed by a ton of meta speed for wives ability to be particularly useful. I was much more attracted to the fact that he is capable of playing any enhancement in a deck.

The alternative tins thing I agree with you I just hate limiting it to the 6 2011 tins.

That is CBP or CBN, you mean

FBTN tends to just shut down the battle in booster.

And again, most enhancement strength is on the good side, so if Tossing is used, the hero will win more than lose. Well, unless someone starts throwing down Divinations

Obviously the Abilities need to be CBP, CBN to have the ability a work but I have better chance stopping Benaiah with access to all my EE's with spearmen the I do with access to evil gold only with Pharaoh.

Where is the "we" coming from? First time hearing about this, especially since I'm paying for the tournament. haha I'm going to say we'll plan for T1 and T2 2 player, but we'll either run T1 and T2 multi or a booster in the afternoon. I can't afford all of them and expect a high number of players, so let me know which one people would prefer to play.
