Is there any way to avoid the 2P Open Categories being matched up against each other?

I will think about it.  I didnt consider that that might pose a problem for people.  I am not sure what configuration would be better unless we switch booster and type 2 2 player aorund but putting booster up against type 1 2 player would not make me popular.

I am open to suggestions, but I get to make the final determination.

Is Sealed really going to take 5 rounds? Initially I'd probably think it'd be most ideal to switch the type 2's and then drop a sealed round, but I don't know if that's possible.

I am open to suggestions, but I get to make the final determination.
My ideal schedule:

Fri early would have T2-mp.
Fri late would have T1-mp/T2-2p.
Sat morning would have T1-2p.
Sat afternoon would have Sealed/Booster.
Sat evening would have TEAMS.

This puts the most popular events all separate, so that someone could play T2-2p, T1-2p, Booster, and TEAMS.  It also gives an alternative at each time when events double for the inexperienced (T1-mp, Sealed) and the experienced (T2-2p, Booster).  It gives an alternative at each time when events double for 2-player (T2, Sealed) and multi-player (T1, Booster).

I like your original schedule for midwest regionals matt. My suggestion would be to pair t2- 2player with sealed on friday night. Then everyone would get to play t1 2 player on saturday and thus avoid 2 player events being paired together.

I am hoping to make it for the whole thing, maybe get a ride down with Jonathan G if possible or drive myself if need be.

It will be really nice to see you guys and get in on the OH/KY competition again.

Looking forward to t1 multi for sure.  ;)

Midwest Regionals will be held on July 9th and 10th.

Here is the Schedule

Friday Night   - We will be playing IRONMAN in honor of Brian Reid.  The cost will be $5 and the Funds will be donated to a charity in his name.  Type II will start Precisely at 6:00.  If it is only one round, then we will be playing seald deck early so if you plan on coming only for sealed deck, please be here no later than 8:00 just in case we play early.  This should give our neighbors to the south plenty of time to get there to play Sealed.

Ironman sign up -

6:00 - Type 2-Multiplayer
7:30 - Type 2 Multiplayer (round 2 if Necessary)

Sealed Deck - 9:00 Create decks
Round 1 - 9:30
Round 2 - 10:15
Round 3 - 11:00
Round 4 - 11:45
Round 5 - 12:30

Saturday
Iron man Sign up

8:30 Deck Check in for Type 1 -2 Player and Type 2 - 2 Player
Type 1 - 2 player (Type A to run concurrently)
9:00 - Round 1
9:50 - Round 2
10:40 - Round 3
11:30 - Round 4
12:20 - Round 5

Type 2 - 2 Player
9:00 - Round 1
10:15 - Round 2
11:30 - Round 3

12:30 - Lunch

Afternoon block - Type 1 Multiplayer and booster Draft (with Tins and TEP  I will also try for WOmens packs as well)

Multiplayer
1:30 - Round 1
2:30 - Round 2
3:30 - Round 3
4:30 - Round 4 ( if necessary)

Booster
1:30 Draft
2:00 Round 1
3:00 Round 2
4:00 Round 3
5:00 Round 4 (If Necessary)

5:00 - Iron Man over.  Turn in your souls
Dinner 5:30

Final Round  - Teams

6:00 Round 1
7:00 Round 2
8:00 Round 3
9:00 Round 4

This is the Final Schedule.  It has not changed.  After considering all the problems with this schedule I think that, given what I have to work around (Mark showing up late with a big crew, some people getting off work late on Friday) that this is the best for everyone.  It puts the least popular category first when the fewest people will be there.  It saves Booster for Saturday when EVERYONE will be there and it still gets through all the categories in a timely fashion.  True it DOES make you choose between Type 1 or Type 2 2 player categories but you will all just have to deal with that because there are too many other minefields I have to dodge.

I hope everyone is not too offended and I hope that by giving you plenty of time to choose you can focus on building the decks that you want to build for the categories that you will be playing in.  In a perfect world it might be different but alas that is not to be.

I would appreciate some pre-registrations if you know which categories you will be playing.  I will try to drum up some prize to offer for those who pre-register.

Dont forget the Brian Reid Memorial Iron Man Tournament as well.

what is an Iron Man tournament

Iron man is where you are given 10 of the same unique personal "souls"  anyone else participating in the iron-man tournament must accept a challenge by you (and vice versa) unless A) you have already played and B) you are involved in another category of play at the moment.  During your downtime, you can play a pick up type 1 - 2 player match and the loser of that game has to surrender one of his unique "souls."  If you lose all 10 of your souls you are out of the tournament and the winner of the tournament is the one who A) still has at least one personal LS and B) has the most souls collected from other people.  The tie breaker is the person who has the most of thier own unique personal souls.

It is a category that is often played at Nationals but, to my knowledge, has not been played at a tournament lower than that.

This is the Final Schedule.
I accept your schedule and understand you trying to accommodate many "minefields".  Being a tournament host is a tough thing to do.  However, neither T2-mp or Sealed are compelling events for my guys, so I think we'll probably just show up really late Fri night to do some trading and catch some sleep (or maybe some Ironman).  Then on Sat, most of them will be playing T1-2p, T1-mp, and TEAMS (with a few doing Booster instead of T1-mp).

If I have guys who beg me to do Sealed deck, then I'll let you know, but for now just figure us into the Sat schedule.

wow really?  I assumed you wanted to do sealed deck.  You always have in the past.  man, now I may have to re-think things because I was basing this on the idea that you would want to play sealed.

What if I switched sealed with type 2-2 player.  So Friday would be all type II.  Would that really bother a lot of people?

Sealed would be placed in opposite of type 1 2 player.

what do you think?

That would be ideal for me as well.  The other way hardly makes it worth coming early on Friday.  I hate sealed deck category.

I don't think it matters for me because I was going to play type 2 and sealed either way.  I wouldn't normally do sealed but since I'm currently at the top for points, might as well.

I will play type 2 multi, type 1 multi, and not sure about teams  ::).

Sorry for the confusion.  Some guys have played Sealed in the past, but usually just because it was up against a T2 category and they don't have T2 decks so that wasn't even an option for them.  That was why I was hoping for T1-mp on Fri night (which they all play).  They also all play T1-2p and TEAMS, but I figured that you were locked into Sat for those events.

As for having all T2 on Fri night, that would be fine.  Again we would probably just show up for Sat, but that doesn't really change anything for us, so it's fine if it works better for others.  About the only thing that would change anything for us would be if T1-2p, T1-mp, TEAMS, or Booster was on Fri night, in which case we'd head up earlier to get in on that event.

OK since it is not going to matter with Prof Underwood and his kids I will make Friday a type II night and switch sealed and Type II-2 player.

If you come at 6:00 you should be able to play in Both Type II categories (it will be a long night - midnight or so before we end but you could get them both in)

Sealed will square off agianst Type 1-2 player and get a drubbing but that just might make me play sealed since soo many people will probably join type 1-2 player.

I will post an updated schedule later.

That works for me, it gives me a chance to play all the categories that I did not play at northeast regionals.

I will be playing sealed instead of t1 2player, in light of my last place showing at NY states and my midfield showing at northeast regionals.
