Is there going to be a NW Regional tourney? When was the last one?

I'll host it, seeing as I can't host any other high-level tournaments this season.  I'll just need location and funding.

That's quite the distance to try to organize something clear across the country... but maybe try for Seattle or Spokane around the time of Creation Fest West, that might be a good way to try and promote the tourney too... just my thoughts anyhow...
If you aren't familiar with the Northwestern part of the country here are the major markets-

Seattle, WA
Portland, OR
Boise, ID
Spokane, WA
Billings, MT
Salt Lake City, UT (getting toward central west)

Creation Fest West is at George, WA which is half-way between Spokane and Seattle.

I'll bet if you helped with a lot of the planning and details, then you could probably coax STAMP into helping you out. Just be nice, he's a COG*.

Truth is, if I knew that people would show up I would do whatever I could to help, but I've only seen 3 people on the boards from the NW area. Stamp, NW Jonathan, and myself... not encouraging if your planning on the expense of putting on a major event like a regional, but maybe Rob (or someone from Cactus) knows what the marketability is out here???

Four people, so everyone gets a ton of RNRS points!

Rob knows.  The NW has the challenge of remote wilderness.  In addition, the highways that connect the few metro areas can be impassable for up to 4-5 months a year.  For 8 years, Oregon and southern WA was the NW.  I believe our record for attendance was 35 for a regional.  One of our crew, Ben Arp, probably has the record for most miles flown as he has attended many National tournaments in the past.

If you'd like to host a regional, I would help in any way I can.  I can't commit to traveling very far...my summer is pretty booked, both financially and as the calendar goes.  I did ask NWJonathan and NWJosh if they wanted me to host regional in the Salem area.  I haven't heard back.  NWJosh and his wife are having their first baby next month so I'm guessing he won't be involved this year.  Ben Arp (DaClock) goes to school in San Diego, so he attends SW tournaments mostly.  All of the Redemption cells have dried up over the years.  My group is basically down to a couple of COGs, me and Dan Prince.  I will ask around and see if there are any groups that are still active.  I'll keep you posted.

Exactly, even if the tourney was in Seattle, I would have to travel 900 miles to make it, which would be worth it for sure, but you start looking in the OR area and wow that nearly doubles my trip. Boise might be fair, but you just have to have somewhere proximal to where the most people would be able to attend, but I would love to go to a big tourney.

The only way I could see something really working out is if Cactus somehow worked with Creation Fest West, because you have a large group of people (30,000 strong) coming together to one centralized event. And the Festival is no longer in George, WA (huge disappointment) it is in Enumclaw, WA near SE of Seattle.

I had chatted with Rob at 2005 Nats about doing Creation Fest West.  NWJosh and I were going to run a big tournament there in 2006, but plans fell through.  I don't know if I could make Creation Fest West this year.  If you were to host a tournament there, we could pass the word around.  2013 (if we're all still here ;) ) might be a good summer for me to go to Creation Fest West.

2013 I think would be better for me as well

If we start promoting it now, it might give enough time for the likes of the Bryon Hake and Michael Wolfe families to plan to attend.  ;)

Also, I forgot...another esteemed board member, 777Godspeed will be in the NW very soon.  I believe he and his family are moving to the OR/ID border.  :)
