LODGING:
All apologies as issues have arisen with the original hotel.  The rates will definitely be higher (should no be more than $25 per person based on 4 persons sharing a room).  Based on the E-mails I got from players, I have gotten one room for males --- let me know if more than one room might be needed for separation purposes.  Please indicate if you are planning to stay at the hotel for one or two nights so that I can easily plan a strategy.  All apologies for the great inconvenience caused.

For those who wish to make their own lodging arrangements, the least expensive decent enough lodging that is close to to tourney venue is the Bethpage Motel .

Wanted: Long Islanders who can share some space in their homes for those from other states who need to lodge for free or even for a smaller fee.

********************
CHURCH/WORSHIP:
I want to make sure that you have a church to go to if you wish to attend Sunday Service/Mass before you head out for home, should you decide to stay Saturday night.
********************

There are great Christian stores to visit while you are on Long Island, that also carry Redemption CCG:
1.  ReBirth Christian Store
2.  GLY Books and Gifts

And when you are in Cortland, please visit Kitty's store:  Spirit & Life

For those of you who haven't met him yet, Scott Anderson, one of Rob's sons, will also visit us for the Friday night events.  He was actually my teams partner at Nats 07, when he was just 15.  See ya, Scotty!

REPORT (w/ link to photo album -- thanks to Mike I. for the pics! ):

http://s966.photobucket.com/albums/ae142/renyzeny/NY%20Back-to-Back%20Feb%202011/

Yet another memorable event for Long Island NY as it hosted its Valentine’s weekend 2011 back-to-back Redemption CCG tournaments at Seaford on February 11 and 12.  Honored guests were game inventor himself Rob Anderson together with Susan, his wife, and Scott, his 2nd son.

Rob’s family was greeted by players, collectors, parents, and friends as they arrived at the tournament venue on Friday evening.  Leading the greeters was Games and Gifts Galore manager Steve L., who himself is a Redemption player.  Among his store’s playgroup members who greeted the honored guests was co-host Ryan D. (Chaminade HS) who has been playing Redemption since around three years ago.  He made sure he met Rob that night although he had to leave soon after for his weekend retreat.  Max B. was also present as he helped host the two-day tourney with Steve L. in Ryan D.’s absence.  AJ L. was also present to meet Rob.  He is one of the first Redemption players from the Seaford group.  Phil G. attended the Saturday events after learning the game from Steve L, the previous night.

The Valley Stream group showed its player presence led by ReBirth Christian Bookstore owner Jordan G., who himself is a game host and player.  Maureen and Kathy W. were also an honored presence at the tourney.  They are essential to the formation of the Valley Stream group as they were the bridge between the game distributor and the store as Redemption became its retail product and the game’s birthplace at Valley Stream.  Dario V. and his sister Saija were also present.  Dario (10) plays and teaches Redemption at ReBirth every Thursday.  He also taught his class and teacher the game and hopes that his school (Valley Stream Christian Academy) continues to support and embrace the game.  Later in the evening, another VS player, Rev. Clinton B., joined T1 2P.  Rev. Clinton has been spreading the game in eastern Long Island and hopes his proposal to his association bears fruit to have Redemption as an activity at a forthcoming huge ministerial conference.  Alessio D. from Franklin Square (Dario’s cousin) attended Saturday’s events.

Guests from other states included season players like Matt S. (PA), Mike I. (NJ), and Nick C. (CT).   Patrick C . (CT) was also present, as well as Rae C. (CT), Nick’s mom, who played most of the Saturday events.  Patrick’s parents, Tony and Virginia, enjoyed two days of bliss on Long Island while their son played in all of the events.

Long Island was again honored on Saturday with the presence of none other than John M. (MA) himself.  John co-hosted Nats 2006 in NY as well as hosted the 2010 Nats in Boston.

Rob and Scott competed in Type 1 2-Player against seasoned as well as newer players on Friday night.  Mat S. won T1 2P on Friday night.  Max B. surprised many with his Silver offence as he championed Districts on Saturday for T1 2P.  Results for other events are posted on Cactus’ website.

The players would also like to thank Roberto and Jocelyn V. (Dario and Saija’s parents) for their undying support for their children and Redemption.  Berto and Jocelyn have been taking turns driving their kids to the weekly practices at ReBirth.

Blessings and kudos to all!
