ok here's the schedule.
8:00 a.m. - 8:30 = registration & deck inspection
8:30 - 11:00 = Dream Hand (3 rounds @ 50 mins ea.)
11:00 - 11:30 = Lunch
11:30 - 2:30 p.m. = Booster Draft (2 rounds @ 1 hour ea. + an hour to draft and build a deck. mite tweak this to include 3 rounds.)
2:30 - 5:50 = 3 Wishes (4 rounds @ 50 mins ea.)
when in between round snacking, trading, playing, prizes etc. are factored in it should all be said and done before 6:30 if everyone cooperates a bit.
if anyone has any specific needs time-wise I can probably tweak and adjust the schedule. i tried to end early enough to give everyone time to get home at a decent time. GOD BLESS!

booster draft does not reguries an hour to build decks or play 2 rounds of booster would be around 60mins +15 to build a deck +10 mins to draft.

where are the rules to the alternate play styles?
I haven't fully decided whether I'll come yet or not, but it would be nice to know the rules in case I felt like a road trip.
Also, you do know that Dream Hand has an inherent flaw don't you? Whoever gets to go first by coin flip will just abuse hur to mess the other person's dream hand up. I would consider that possibility if you haven't already.
@RED, Marc knows what he's doing and I'm sure it will work out.

Yes it is a bit long, and i dont plan on a whole hour to draft and build, but in my experience, a good deal of time is wasted in explaining, helping inexperienced players, explaining agian, repeating the rules, and more explaining. and i also factored that into that time "dead time". time to do stuff lik trading, on-side playing, people being late...things that u have to count on to end when u say u will. + i hav to go thro a few new rules in drafting because its with the Txps and Boosters instead of tins. pobably should hav been more clear with that part of timing. sorry all!
RULES:
DREAM HAND: on each players first turn they cannot play any card to directly disrupt their oppents hand or territory. (eg. Hur can be in ur dream hand but u cant play him until u and ur opponent both had your first turns. i may also not play by the "second player draws three on first turn" rule because its impossible for him to draw a bad hand...well...)
BOOSTER DRAFT: start with Txps, no keeping cards like with the tins--just an old-school Booster Draft (yes u may have to choose between a Grapes, Destruction, and Saul/Paul, but that will make it interesting!)
3 WISHES: ...do u seriously want me to give them away...?
mite have to tweak things here and there to make things even, but thats pretty much it. btw since there are no participant promos tired to make the prises worth it (and Booster Draft! the packs are: 2 TxPs, 1 Prophet, 1 Patriarch, 1 Apostles, and 1 Priest!)
tried to make it worth a bit of traveling. if anyone forsees any ruling issues with the play variations please let me know. some of it we'll just have to 'play by ear'...but unpredictability is one of the great things about tourneys! (sure add to the adrenaline for the host!

Marc,
Did you consider making any of the tourney official through the new pre-approval official local tournaments?

i didnt think that cactus would sanction Booster with TxPs. just assumed it was all Boosters or tins...guess there wouldnt be a prob. i just wanted to put a spin on things and offer different prizes. also im most likely going to hold a sanctioned local/district every month (prob only one or two catagories), and i wanted to kick that trend off with a bigger and unusual tourney.

To my knowledge, booster is still official with TeP. I will look at that weekend.
Thanks for letting me know on Hur...I think that is fair. There are other abuses I can come up with but that I will save as a surprise because it's technically legal. ;-)
As for 3 wishes, yes I kind of want the surprise to be given away, so i know what kind of deck to build and strategy planning.
I'll try to make it, but I can't promise just yet.

Also to my knowledge they uses Texp for boosters at nationals last year, so it must be legal.

wow ive been out of the loop (just got internet at my house today actually, ive been borrowing my work's recently). our locals will be starting (most likely) April 24 or May 1 and then every 4 weeks. once i talk the details with my team ill know for sure. they be very small (like i said only one or two catagories for a local (or occasionally district). basically im doing this to eventually put a complete set of promos in their hands and a few Boosters for pretty much playing lik we usually do when we meet.

Your Dream Hand will consist of any 8 cards and 1 lost soul that can be rescued by any player in any circumstance (no N.T. only, or even that nasty lost soul that negates heroes special abilities if there are more than 3 brigades in play). No Donimants. Anything else goes, except that you cannot PLAY a card on EITHER of your FIRST turns (you can choose Hur as part of your hand but cannot play him until each of you have had your first turns). Thats all the rules for now (its Type 1 btw), but they may need to be modified as time goes on and you ingenuitive players find new ways to throw the game in your favor for this catagory (Redemption players are exceptionally good at that!) Oh, before i get asked, looking at your opponents hand is ok (your not actually affecting it), if your unsure of what goes and what doesnt, ask and just keep it ethical i guess. Thanks for the interest everyone!!!! God Bless!!

No Dominants huh? I'm assuming that includes rescuing-inhibiting type dominants or is it ALL dominants.
by my understanding: it includes:
SoG/NJ, Falling Away, AoTL, CM, burial
not include: Doubt, Glory of the Lord
? include: Harvest Time, Grapes & Mayhem
Or is it all of the above? it could be, this just the first I've heard of no dominants in a dream hand.
The reason I am asking so many questions is because definitely 1 or 2 deck types would thrive with this type of style.
Out of curiosity, are you playing in this event or judging it?

this is where i first found Dream Hand:
http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/index.php?topic=17967.0
i agree with the no Doms. rule presented. i want the Dream Hand to be based off of the decks stratagy and make it possible to hav those hard to get combos up front...and not simply allow a hand full of Doms at turn one. Grapes and Mayhem arent going to be allowed (as well as the basic SoG, AotL, NJ, CM, Burial, FA, DoN, and Gaurdian). Harvest Time, Glory, and Doubt i am leaning to a not allowed just i want the hand to just reflect the deck not Doms and other cards can replace those Doms if needed (Doubt would probably be the hardest but still replaceable for at least the opening hand). tho im still open to comments about the barring (from opening hand of only this catagory, mind all) of those Doms or not. one last thing. Sites can be in the Dream Hand but a lost soul cannot be added to them on turn one. the point is to pit each others best offence and defence without something lik a site or Dom. to instantly stop it all.
Thanks to All for the interest and comments!!!
Oh, tho i wont be deck checking, i will be playing and judging. Someones got to head everything up...but not even i can resist competing in a Redemption Tourney!

New York!!! New York!!! .... Start spreading the news .... I wanna be a part of it! New York!!! New York!!!
Kudos to you, young jedi!!!
I just found out that I have a church sale that day .... I'll make it anyway ... another day......
Rob, please try your best for you and Laine to attend.
Jon, please let Al know. Also, Al might convince Ben C. to just come back to the game, even just for fun.
Marc (and you are so coming to Nats 2010 coz Rob Anderson wants to see you there!!!), we need the final date for NY States ASAP, okay? And, BTW as the guys mentioned, you can actually make an official category work on the 20th and submit the app and fee later on so that the resulted can be officially posted on RNRS:
http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/index.php?topic=17895.msg281822#msg281822
Godbless, ALL!!!

PLACE OF TOURNEY HAS CHANGED!!!! nothing major just a couple of stores down. litterally 10 seconds walk. signs will be posted. the new place allows totall noise mayhem and more space (and no disruption to the bookstore we were goin to hold it at.) one last thing. PLEASE let me know if you are going to attend!!!! its hard to plan for food, costs, and other stuff if i dont know if 2 or 12 people are coming in out of my immediate area. thank you all!!!! God Bless!!!! = )

I've arranged to have one of the cars this weekend so I'll be there sometime between 8-9 AM.
Mostly interested in playing the Booster draft ! Please don't start booster draft first!

Sorry Marc. My wife and I won't be able to make it. Life it too crazy right now with an infant. Hopefully we can make your next tournament and have someone watch our baby for it. We will be at states for sure. Just let us know when any locals or districts are going to happen.
