Looking to get a date set for a NJ State bid. Do we have an idea on when NE Regionals will be? And any preferences for a state date?

Preferably not on May 5th, since it looks like that's when the NY States will be. Maybe the weekend after?

Does this mean NJ states won't be like last year?

I wasn't at states last year, so I don't know. But we'll try to make it good.

It was at a con, so it might be a bit difficult to beat that.  Also, the categories were spread out, so we could play in each one.

I actually don't know how I feel about that. Obviously the main reason categories are played at the same time is for the sake of time, but honestly, I think the system as it works now is fair, because it forces players to decide what categories they want. Can you imagine letting Jonathan Greeson play in both T1 and T2 2P at NE regionals?

On another note, would anyone be interested in a semi-official category of Type Ban at NE Regionals this year? I have Rob's blessing, and I'm willing to buy packs to let the prizes be the same at a regular regional tournament, but I need to know that enough players would pay (at $5) to recoup my losses.

NJ States last year was at DexCon, a three day gaming convention. We were not really concerned with time.

Which is why I noted that the system in place also has other functions beyond saving time.

The tournament also consisted of Me, Randall, Dario, and some Noobs from Dexcon that we had just taught the game so that also was not an issue (side note: mostly to rub it in, I kept Randall from sweeping the tourney in the last category we played, mwahahahah)

Chronic, I'd be up for that.  What would the ban list be?

Probably only Mayhem and NJ, however, I would look at everything and see if we can't mix it up a bit. It's possible it would be whatever cards are currently banned in the current TB thread.

States at DexCon? I like that idea. I've played in several tournaments Roy hosted there. But that puts states after regionals. (And, if it conflicts with the NJ World Changers project like it has the last two years, means my family would be out.) If I could go, though, I could probably get in for free if I worked the SFR, Inc. table...and I could compete in the Dragon Dice Nationals.

Just checked, and I'll be away during DexCon (again). If someone wants to run States there, let me know. Otherwise we'll put in a State bid for Colts Neck.

Thats where we had it last year and yes it was Way after regionals. I liked it but then again I got to stay in a hotel for 3 days, free of charge for working the booth, so i'm biased

I agree, DexCon was a lot of fun.  (Those saying it wouldn't be a good idea are just haters who are jealous they couldn't go last year.)

Not saying it's not a good idea, but I think it might be best if the main New Jersey player on the boards actually gets to go this year...

(And yes, I am jealous.)

I'm leaning toward late May for NJ. I have to wait until Robert is home from college and his chorale tour, since I need him to make the arrangements at Colts Neck while I'm working at another church.
