It was pretty darn close.  It'd be tough to find a playgroup that's further out.

I think MA manages that quite nicely.

There's a Maine playgroup right on the border of Canada apparently.

Let's do regionals there. I've always wanted to know what it's like to be a hermit.

They're still more central than MD.

Not really. MD is closer to NJ than MA is, and then you get players from southern PA and MD (which there are quite a few), Alex over in western PA, Matt Sinclair in the Philly region, plus anyone from eastern Ohio or northern Virginia willing to make the trip. I'd imagine Rochester would be roughly in the middle of MA and MD (too lazy to check for sure) as well.

One of the more LOL worthy aspects of distance is that from Rochester to Long Island usually takes longer than from Rochester to Boston

On some days, Rochester to Long Island may take less time than from central NJ to Long Island. :)

The biggest problem is there are valid reasons to have the tournament in each location, but thinking this all through I agree with Chronic for the most part. As Chronic was voicing for souther Pa/Md players (like myselfe) Maine is just too far.

Kittens I want to take a little moment and thank you for having the nature that this game is supposed to emulate. He has been willing to put aside what is best for him and think of how actions can affect others...

Thanks

Whoa! I wasn't anticipating that my comments would alter the decision for regionals. We have a large amount of players that must converge to one location. I agree with whoever mentioned the thought of a rotation of tournament locations between the north and south of the region. Since MD was last year's host it should start this year in the North (I'm considering Rochester as part of the Northern region).

Well, it was more a compass point rotation that I proposed, but yeah.  Makes sense to me to have Regionals in a more central location the year after an extreme.  Also, since Randall's put in a serious bid for Nats (and would presumably put in just as serious a bid next year), I feel that getting a run through with a large tourney in Rochester this year would be a good idea.

I'm not.  We have barely any snow, and it's supposed to get to 43 degrees today.  Ugh....

@_JM_ Yes, I will bid next year if I don't get it this year.

If you're hosting, I'd like it to be May 5th.  That's the weekend after finals, which worked great for us last year.

I typically can IF no one wants it.   However, I have frequently had it, so I'm more than happen to allow others to have it.  I just don't like a year going by with NO states at all.

Rob, are you south of Rochester? I would plan to go to the NY states as long as it doesn't conflict with any states that are closer to me (PA, NJ, or MD).

Looking to get a date set for a NJ State bid. Do we have an idea on when NE Regionals will be? And any preferences for a state date?
