Randell,

If you dont get regionals or nationals are you putting in for states? If not I may have a good location for about 20-30 people. Unless someone else is going for it, marc or jon.
Marc is pretty much out of the tournament scene....maybe even Redemption too.  I know I've talked to him about his playgroup dissolving on facebook.

If we get Nats, then Regionals can be wherever.  However, if we don't get Nats, I'll be bidding on Regionals.

Randall, is the Rochester O-Plan Nats 2012 been written on stone yet?  Are you guys definitely bidding?  Time is running out in essence.

I am personally not in the bid plan for Nats but the Valley Stream group that meets at ReBirth where most of you who have posted here may already have attended tourneys at on Long Island.  I shall be supporting and helping them with their bid as soon as they solidify their venue.

Honestly, if the TN group will not be solid with their Nats bid soon then you guys better be prepared to take over with more intensity with your bids.  The Valley Stream group is still determined to put their bid in especially if bids from other NE States are not solid yet about theirs at this point in time.

The Long Island contingent is prepared to bid for either Regionals or States depending on what is left for it to host.  We will defer to the other major NY State groups and will give them dibs.

I hope that keeps everyone abreast of Long Island's large tourney plans.

Peace and Godbless all.

Roy is long Island putting in for states?

Has it been decided yet where Regionals is going to be, or is this all still speculation?

Both Chris and I have heard from John M. that he's planning on hosting Regionals at Sam Nurge's church.  I was hoping to have Regionals to fall back on if I don't win the bid for Nats, but it looks like I won't be able to host any high-level tournaments this season if TN gets Nats....  I could bid against John M, but I don't want to start that fight.

I actually argued that John should give you the bid for regionals, since putting it in MA alienates a lot of people (as we've seen in this thread), and it would be nice for you to get larger tournament experience before hosting Nats.

Olijar, if I go to regionals you are welcome to ride with me. I'm assuming you would have been able to make a Rochester Nats and I'm 45 minutes south of Rochester. The rest of you, I probably can't do much for but there are a few more empty seats in my car (gas money requested but not required.)

I'll be talking with him next week, so we'll see what comes out of that.

My point is that I think you should put in a bid for regionals regardless of what he says. Normally I wouldn't recommend it, but with two people just in this thread saying they couldn't make it in MA, I'm forced to conclude that might be a bad idea.

Like I said, we'll talk.  He's the guy who got me into Redemption, so I'm kinda leery about challenging him.

Just to add to the "keep it in NY" crowd, I'm never going to be able to attend any sort of regionals/tourament outside of NYS.

If we're just making personal preferences public right now, it's much shorter for me and the rest of the CT/MA playgroup to drive to Bostonish than to Rochester, NY. Looking at Google Maps, it might even be quicker for people in Long Island to drive to Bostonish than Rochester.

It seems like the CT to NJ range is most central for the future, but that would require things like enduring NJ's insanity or getting me to get off my seat and actually do something.

The problem is Rochester is much quicker than Bostonish for those of us in PA/MD, so I think a balance has to be struck. I'd love to just give Greeson or Roy regionals.

Oh, I know Rochester's closer for many people. But it seems like every thread of "where is a big tournament going to be" very quickly becomes "I want it near me," so I decided to post that "near me plz!" for myself and others near me that don't frequent the boards.

Oh I understand, but I'm seeking the best location possible. Rochester and Long Island are both still roughly 5-6 hours from me, so it's a pretty long drive regardless. If I was going to go for what's best for me, I'd encourage Marti to host or even put in a bid myself.

It was MD, not VA.
