Quote from: whiteandgold7 on February 14, 2015, 11:03:17 AMThat being said, Florida is a great place to vacation, and if planned far enough in advance, ...This is really the catch. Rob would need to announce a Florida Nationals almost a year in advance. That would give people time to plan their vacation, if that was their choice. Flying out for a weekend to Nats in Ohio is one thing. Planning a Florida vacation is something entirely different. So, if we can get confirmation of Nationals 2016 here in Florida soon, we could have a great turnout next summer!
What is the average turnout of players from the state hosting typically?
Quote from: whiteandgold7 on February 14, 2015, 05:45:18 PMWhat is the average turnout of players from the state hosting typically? Was this question for me, or for other states in general?I was averaging about 15-20 players whenever I hosted Florida States.
QuoteWhat is the average turnout of players from the state hosting typically? That varies quite a bit I think. Last year, I'd guesstimate around 40% of the players at Nationals were from Minnesota. However, the year before that there were just a couple that were actually from New York itself (a lot were from the NE region).
... but we need a substantial playgroup first ...Steven
Quote from: whiteandgold7 on February 14, 2015, 05:45:18 PM... but we need a substantial playgroup first ...StevenSteve, you were at the 2006 Nats on Long Island in NY. Fyi we were no more than half a dozen NY players when we hosted that tourney and there were a little less than 150 players who attended. When we hosted 2013 that yielded less than 80 players we were about a dozen active NY players who attended. My point is, hosting Nats does not rely nor requires a substantial population of players from the host state. With lots of players volunteering as judges and assistants at previous Nats, one can be assured of support as a host. It will be a first in the history of Nats if Florida can be announced as the 2016 Nats venue.I have myself committed my all out attendance and support for Nats 2016 in Florida especially when it will be co-hosted by two of my closest brothers in Redemption, both who came from the same regional nest as me."When you build it.....they will come!!!"
I think the best idea is to focus on this year because no one knows what areas will see growth/decline in the coming years. Since the last two years have been Northeast and North Central, Ohio seems like a logical choice this year, but after that I think we need to wait to see what areas see continued growth.

Tim,I do agree with you with Florida to be a successful Nationals we would almost have to bid a year in advance. I will continue to strive to build Central Florida, and Tim I'm pretty sure is doing the same. I'm in the process of building a playgroup in Kissimmee, as well as another playgroup in Clermont. And I won't stop there...Also, I will continue my search for good locations to support a Nationals in Florida, and we'll see where we are in the next few months regarding potential locations.Steven
With Redemption Nats possibly being in Ohio you are right between two BIG cities in Cincinnati and Dayton and if you are a baseball fan both the Dayton Dragons and the Cincinnati Reds will be in town the weekend we are shooting for.
Wasn't there a big playgroup in CA, have they ever had it?
