it won't be in Alaska or Hawaii :PTHANK YOU THAT WAS SOOO HELPFUL! ::)
NC Region is due, Iowa or Minnesota, I have it from a very reliable source that Iowa will most likely put in a bid at the very least.a bid? I'm guessing at least 3. unless we decide to join together in unity...

Nope, keep in mind that the NC region continues to have one of the largest player bases, in addition to the fact that we have a long history of succesful national tournaments. NE does have a legitimate argument but Rob tries not to put it on the coasts two years in a row.
I would like to see Georgia get a Nationals.
Well I'll be the first to say it: if Nats 2010 is in Orlando I claim YMT's spare master suite. ;)
GA, you better clean up your tournament act if you want a Nats. :Pif by NE you mean Nebraska, then I'd agree.
I'd bet on Minnesota/Iowa in '10, and the NE in '11. And, why are we even talking about this?
I say Gabe hosts an Iowa nats so that he can't compete. ::):P I'd be more than happy to offer my assistance.:rollin:

those were the same reasons california used. it's not gonna work two years in a row.Tennessee 2010! Because we need it!Tennessee 2010! Because we want it!Tennessee 2010! Because we crave it!
Except that Ohio had it last year.
I think that something in the NC/NE region would be good. Not neccesarily dead in the center of either, but those are the two most prevalent regions. Honestly, Ohio wouldn't be a terrible choice, since it's kind've in the middle there. Michigan, Illinois, and anything in that general area would be good spots too. Not make either group go too much.
Turns out my family will be visiting some family in Kentucky (just outside Cincinnati) next summer, so I'd actually support Ohio or a neighboring state hosting Nats :)Well regardless of Nats, at least you'll probably be able to join us for the KY State tournament, and there's a decent chance that the EC Regionals may return to KY next summer as well.

Its not fair that some people must travel long distances and some must travel short distances to get to nationals. I devised a plan that should make everyone happy; hold Nats on Neptune! Then, everyone must travel roughly the same distance.AND KOOL-AID!
Although it may be a long flight, so make sure to stock up on Moutnain Dew, Pringles, and bring your Ipod.
AND KOOL-AID!Someone in the vehicle would be compelled to yell "OH YEAH!" every 5 minutes if we brought Kool-Aid. That would get annoying, so no kool-aid.

Perhaps we should put in for OHIO again this year.

This just in Atl will host Nationals 2010
And here I thought Nationals were going to be held in my basement...
if I buy a nation, could I host a nationals there?
And here I thought Nationals were going to be held in my basement...
Nope. It will be atSeaWorld
if it's in florida i won't be able to make it as usual so florida is out of the questionAs much as I would love for Nats to be here in KY, and as much as we do have the facilities to host it here at my school....alas we are probably too far away from airports for this to happen any time soon. And since no one else in KY is hosting tourneys anymore, that probably knocks out our state.
alambama or georgia orkentuckyhas to be the location choices for nats 2010

i agree with metalpsalm and california is not gonna get nats again.I'm just saying it'a not a scientific poll, I have no idea if Cali was/is/will be lucky, or who the PTB will pick for next year. It won't be Elkhart... The Redemption Desert
california is lucky they got it this year

it certainly won't be california cause you guys had it this past yearRaven it doesn't matter if it was at your own church you still would not go...
it'll be atlanta who takes nats, case closed, get over it
Rob decides where and when. That being said, it usually happens in late July or very early August.

With the way my finances are (especially during summer) I don't think I'll be able to afford going unless it's within a couple hours driving distance of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
*sad face*
5 or 6 would be fine assuming I could find somewhere cheap to stay overnight (nationals is over several days usually, right?) as I wouldn't want to drive 10 hours each day of the tourney. With the way my finances are (especially during summer) I don't think I'll be able to afford going unless it's within a couple hours driving distance of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Well, if a couple could be extended to 5 or 6, then the Twin Cities would be perfect for you too!

STAMP may be on to something here. Add to the list:
Pittsburgh Penguins as Stanley Cup Champions
North Carolina Tarheels as NCAA basketball Champions
and Jimmy Johnson about to wrap up another NASCAR title.
I guess that means the Florida Gators are going to win the NCAA football championship. Rats!
Sorry to bust your bubble, but the Penguins were absolutely the underdog to the Red Wings in the Stanley Cup this past year. The Penguins had been atrocious previous to the last couple of years...
Roy held Nationals back in 2006 I doubt he would get to host it again so soon. I personally am hoping for Massachusetts to get it because that is probably the only location that I can hope to attend.

I'm not saying it was a bad idea to have nats in Cali necessarily, but...I mean, you have to balance fairness and attendance, IMO.
However, in the end, it really all comes down to what Rob says. I mean, you can't even have a tournament in a state where no one offers to host.
Now I'm gonna let you finish but nats in MN was the best NATS OF ALL TIME! OF ALL TIME!Well, it was the smallest tournament in years...and MN was the biggest ever...just sayin'...

(Note: only because OB making walking on Mary's face)
A while ago, some one mentioned that there should be a rotating schedule for Nationals. It would look like:This could be a good idea, except that there just isn't a solid enough player base to realistically make that work. Sure the North Central region has been consistent for a decade and there would always be a big-time host in MN willing to host Nats every 4 years. But the other regions just don't have that consistency. If you asked a few years ago, it seemed like a Nats in TX and Atlanta were both good possibilities. But both of those states have gone way down over the last couple years, as has the West Coast this year. There probably aren't more than a handful of states that could realistically host Nats this year. What if none of them were in the area that was on the schedule that you suggest above?
East Coast
[North]Central
[South]Central
West Coast
…

.... just whining.....
And don't even act like you don't want nationals to be in your state as well.So you understand why some players who never get a chance to have nationals within 1500 miles of them would like to have a nationals they can attend?
Or, what about this: every player who goes to nationals puts their travel expenses on the host's credit card. Then, the host divides that total by the number of entrants to determine the entry fee. That way, it is fair for everyone. :)
You local kids will have to foot the bill for the Hakes, Wolfes, Kramers, Isildurs, fireninjas, STAMPs, and all the high schoolers and middle schoolers in our playgroups, etc. for the next 14 years. :)
Absolutely. I am one of them myself. But ...And don't even act like you don't want nationals to be in your state as well.So you understand why some players who never get a chance to have nationals within 1500 miles of them would like to have a nationals they can attend?
... you have to balance fairness and attendance, IMO.If that means nationals will be held in California for three years in a row, then I'm up for it ... but I truly doubt that's the case.
ANYTHING on the next nationals?Aw, why Couldent you ask this on my Post, you know to keep it goin!
I mean no disrespect to anyone and perhaps I was foolish to expect the same.

...but it will require selflessness again on the part of numbers worshipers.Yeah, I agree. It seems like just a year ago we had some guy actually arguing that Nationals should be in California because the Southwestern Regional had the largest number of participants in 2008. I wish I could recall the name of that numbers worshiper. ;)
LOL. Actually, that was ONLY in response to people who said that numbers should be a factor. My main argument was fairness - let the western half of the country have 1 nationals after the other side had 14. Clearly, we had enough numbers to have a successful (though somewhat diminutive) event. :)...but it will require selflessness again on the part of numbers worshipers.Yeah, I agree. Clearly, we had enough numbers to have a successful (though somewhat diminutive) event. :)Agreed. If people are going to point to attendance it is only fair to note that Cali was granted the golden opportunity of hosting Nationals during the worst economic downturn since the 1930s when most of the major tournaments saw attendance hits last year. When you couple this with the fact that the amount of airline discounting was down quite a bit last summer (at least on the MN to CA flights) the event would have--in all likelihood--been considerably less diminutive under more nearly normal circumstances.
By saying you were "foolish" or even saying you might of been to expect people not to disrespect you is disrespecting them. Make sense? So, calling myself foolish is disrespectful to others? I still don't understand...
