I really wish I could join y'all.  For the first time, y'all didn't schedule it on a weekend we have a rugby game!  The bummer is that I have no car, so flying would just cost too much to be feasible.

Hmmm I might be able to somehow get a ride to KC.  Do you know when you are leaving from KC?

If I look into Greyhound, which stations in MN should I look into?

Bill, thanks for your generosity, but I think I would have needed to buy a ticket a few months out coupled with that to make it feasible.

There are three stations in St. Paul. Any of those would work.

Who knows, with the rumors that Nationals 2010 might be on Mars, this might be your only chance to play in a big T2 tournament this year.  ;)

Seriously? We would love to have you ride up with us. It is a 7 hour drive and we were going to try to leave around 2p-3p. We haven't filled up yet and if you let me know your ETA I can save a seat for you. I can also pick up in Des Moines.

Quick question for all y'all planning on spending the night prior to the tournament at the church...

There are a number of options for the evening. Included among these are

1) A separate local for TEAMS.  Since it is past the filing deadline, this would need to be one of the impromptu locals we have heard so much about. The cost would be free.

2) T2-Sealed deck. Each player would get two copies of the same starter deck, a smattering of commons/uncommons in the appropriate brigades to balance good/evil and their choice of FoOF/RoA tin. This would end up costing about $14.

3) T2-Booster. Each player would get two FoOF/RoA tins and a TexP pack, This would end up costing about $18.

4) Free gaming time. At minimum we will have Dominion, Race for the Galaxy, Risk, Memoir '44, Munchkins, Family Business, etc. available to play in addition to Redemption. If anyone would like a Dominion tournament, I can set one up. In any event gaming would be free (unless wagering breaks out).

5) Sleep. Judging from my performance at this tournament the past couple of years, this is overrated.

Respond here or PM me.

I would go with the impromptu teams local, though the other options sound fun as well (except number 5). I'm currently planning on staying Friday night, but I might have to talk about that with m'lady. I might be able to convince her to come, but that's doubtful.

Also, if we did do the T2 Booster, would we actually be drafting in the traditional style, or would we just open all the packs and build a deck directly? I'm thinking that it might be difficult to get a decent balance of good/evil if they were drafted.

Option 3 would be my first choice, but I have the same concern as the Professor.

However, I'm sure I will ultimately be bugged into option 4 anyway, so this is probably irrelevant. ;)

I would disable that rule for the draft, just as t1 disables the 1 of a card with s.a. per 50 rule.

Funny you should ask because I've been thinking about that (as I still stick with my earlier contention that the only player I know who is wicked-sharp enough to draw balanced directly is the Professor's youngest sibling).

I was thinking of keeping the traditional style with a couple of possible options to help this out.

1) Allow players to keep three separate draft piles--one each for good, neutral, and evil. At the end of every pack, the players could count their piles.

2) Gather up all of the excess commons/uncommons that people have hanging around (I have a few thousand cards that fit in this category). At the end any players short good/evil cards could take from the bin.

I'm open to any other suggestions as it's just for fun anyway. (I would prefer we do not do away with the rule, but that is personal preference.)

hmm, a type 2 booster sounds fun...but just playing other games sounds good too...
None of the choices are mutually exclusive (although I think doing both T2-sealed and T2-booster would be tough). I figure people are going to bring games anyway.  I'm just posting in case we want to do something that requires prior planning and/or supplies to be brought.

I would go with this option. Adding in extra cards would defeat the purpose of Booster IMO. Also, would all of the tins be random, or would you possibly get two tins with corresponding colors (for example, the FooF Judges tin and the RoA Luke/John tin).

I was thinking of giving two of the same tin to each player (which tin would be random, however). That way the FoOF/RoA can as the backbone of a deck just like they do in standard booster. T2 is hard enough without trying to mix-and-match brigades.

That makes sense. So would ALL T2 deck building rules still apply? I don't foresee anyone getting more than three of the same artifact, LS, fortress, etc. but it's possible. Obviously good and evil should be balanced, but would the card type limits be in effect as well?

Probably not. Standard booster waves the one per fifty rule (with the exception of Dominants), so I think T2-Booster should do the same with its card limits.  Think of it as a bonus prize to anyone who gets six of any character/enhancement or four of any artifact/fortress.

Once again, this are simply my preferences (although I have thought about this a bit previously).  I am open to all suggestions anyone would like to offer, and we can let consensus rule.

Which airports should I look to fly into potentially?  The Minneapolis/St Paul one only?  Or are there others close by?  And Matt, I live in the NW corner, so Little Rock is a ways away, haha.  I could fly out of Fayetteville (XNA), Tulsa, or Ft Smith.

If you can't get to MSP (which I would recommend first) I live about 5 minutes from this airport (really like 15min) and would be more than willing to pick you up on the way to MN (perhaps it's cheaper to fly there).  I don't know you, but my home is open as well.

Hey this is Jonathan from Dayton OH, and I was hoping to drive up with Matt Archibald and Rod Stewart but unfortunately they both had to cancel.  I would love to go but cannot afford to get there on my own.  Matt had indicated that the cost would be about $30 each if the three of us had split the cost of going which is about my budget right now (actually it is stretching for me).  So I'm not planning on it right now but if anyone is aware of a way to get there with $30, let me know!   I would be happy to carpool if there was anyone coming near Dayton.
