This tournament was epic.

Unbelievably epic.. Best game of the tournament: a free for all, Type 2 only "friend blocking", buckler wielding, headache (from laughter) producing game between Rawrlsauce (Allan), Emjaybee(Matt), a new player named Scott, and my lonesome self - who got timed out and side swiped at the end by a excellent play on Matt's part.  That game was the best game of Redemption I have ever played.  I will remember those moments above everything else....

Although....

the push contest was bomb.

I’m unbelievably amazed at how well fit these “nerdy gamers” are.  Gabe Fontana (sorry if I screwed up the last name) came in first at 74 pushups in 2 minutes!!!  AMAZING!!  I struggled with that many when I was in the Army.  Great Job Gabe.  Britta....you are awesome!!

My thoughts:
Best player of the tournament (sportsmanship): Brad (Techno)..Not many people can take all the ridicule I gave him for shuffling his discard pile into his deck on my ANB…..
Best game of the tournament: See above
Best memory of the tournament: See above
Most generous: Bill Voigt….wow, I’m not sure where to start on how amazing he is.  Thanks Bill for making me feel welcome and for all the “Jesus” you showed me.
Toughest part of tournament: Staying awake for 31ish hours and then driving home for 4.5 hours.

T2 Booster was awesome. My table pulled both a Grapes (me) and a Mayhem (Gabe) :D. It seemed like every deck in it was amazing. My defense was one color with some great battle winners. My offense was two colors with some great battle winners (beings I was drafting the same color as Gabe, I think). The game was a blast. It was really tight, 7-6-5-4 or 7-6-5-5 or something like that.

T2 2 Player was also amazing. I was playing my t2 multi deck beings I didn't have time to build a 2p one, so I wasn't expecting much. However, my final record was 3-2, with my only 2 losses coming to Gabe and CountFount. My games against Lurch and Kirk were probably won due to draws, though :P. Kirk didn't draw any heroes for a long time, and I didn't draw any souls against Lurch for a long time. I don't remember a lot about my fifth game, not even a name. Just pink dice and a dog mascot.

T2 Multi: Wow. AMAZING. The third game was one of the best games I've ever played. 6 or 7 ANBs were dropped. I didn't draw any heroes so I kept making rescues with The Buckler Franta gave me.

Things I've learned from that t2 game
-If you write a sign that says "Alan's Land of Redemption" and place it on EmJayBee's souls, the officials won't add them to your score.
-If Seraphim makes a rescue, he gets your entire dice collection. If he makes a second rescue, switch one of the ones to a 6. He is protected from the next 3 ANBs
-If KOT defeats The Strong Angel, he gets a screw as a counter.
-Matt is a better singer than Justin Bieber.

Just going to throw this out there... One of the best tournaments ever!!!! Hope it continues.  My experience started with what seemed like a bad idea, type 2 booster.  And after the hour(correct me if im wrong) to build the decks, i thought my assumption to be correct.  But it leveled the playing field to the point where everyone had some pretty awesome plays to get off. In the early round i witnessed one of the most amazing plays that shouldnt happen.  Of one mind was played for a rescue attempt that ended up thwarting the lone divisions in the church an opponent had.  My favorite play of my own was attaking with issac, banding in two females, and then playing rebekah meets issac for name on name.  when i found myself still down by numbers, i used wrestling with God(a red enhancement that fulfills issacs requirements) to search their discard pile for the one enhancement with numbers i needed to win.  Type 2 2 player the next day wasnt a let down either. i ended with a 4-1 record.  i won the first because of lack of heros by an opponent.  the second was a loss to sauce, who had an amazing draw/draws:) fought jacob, and had a close game where his miriam tore through my d for 5 ls.  game four was with matt, who was using a combo deck that couldnt get started.  it didnt help that i had a decent draw.  last game was against was against martin.  lopsided because i figured him out early and was able to implement the cards i needed.  multi rounded up the day.  that point is a blur for me cause of the lack of sleep and the 12 hours of redemption:) i had an amazing weekend, regardless of the fact that we crammed 5  6'0"+ and 180lbs+ guys into a car.  if you ask me if i think it was worth it, i say in a heartbeat.  until next year, continued blessings and safe travels. and props to bill for another wonderful tournament.  if it wasnt for you, im positive something like this would have never happened.

Scottie_ffgamer is back as Cousin It!!!  (Just because I forgot my password for my other profile  )

Anyway, this tournament was great!  Started with a 7 hour drive in a tiny car with a bunch of large built men.  *sigh*  And as soon as we got there, we were already playing!  Type 2 booster took WAY too long to draft, but I really enjoyed the actual game.  I wish we'd played another game.

After hearing about the second round of T2 booster and seeing some of the posts, it seems I'm one of the lucky ones who got 5 hours of sleep.  But even that didn't feel like much after playing for 14 or so hours straight.  2 player was fun even though I only ended up 2-3.  It was still a lot of fun getting to see the new cards, most of which I hardly know where to begin with, and talking to all my friends that I haven't seen since last year.

Multiplayer was all right.  I don't remember a whole lot.  Again, many many hours of Redemptions on extremely few hours of sleep.  But it was still lots of fun.

Everytribe is definitely the most generous and awesome host ever.  Helped the KC groups with travel, lodging, and more.  Also was SO generous to everyone with food and drink.  He tried to make it as fun and enjoyable as possible and did an amazing job at it!  Thanks Wild Bill!

Also a big thanks to EmJayBee83 for housing a bunch of us last night.  We tried to drive back Saturday night of last year and I'm still amazed CountFount didn't fall asleep at the wheel.  Matt was absolutely a life saver!  Thanks.

Overall, a great weekend.  I look forward to next year already!

I would be the new player named Scott previously mentioned in the awesome T2 multi game. It was indeed amazing.

This was my first tournament (actually, I had only played 3 games of Redemption before showing up to the tournament). There's not much more for me to add to what has already been said, I would just like to throw out there that it was both fun and exhausting. I'm excited for next year!

Welcome! I'm new myself but I don't think I would have taken 4 souls against those guys in my 4th ever redemption game. Just remember you were one of four of the most epic game of T2 MP ever!

T2 Booster was amazing. The best part was probably me passing my double pack of apostles over to Matt and then having him ask me why I passed a card that could pay for half the draft to him. I got very worried that I had missed a card that I might want. Also drafting not one, but two ananias of damascus in hopes of getting a saul/paul passed to me, not having it happen, but then grabbing one out of TexP was great, except for the fact that I had to pass Gomer, and Spirit of temptation to do so.

It was such an awesome time!

Great games!  I didn't think T2 booster would work, but it did and I had a great prophets deck.  I finished my game 7-5-?-?.  The push-up contest was great.  I had such an awesome time, especially my game against the other Gabe - but I was so tired driving back after my 2 hours of sleep.

WHAT??  Haha that is so funny!  That might have possibly been the first time Of One Mind's SA might have actually been used.  I wish I could have seen it :D

I was in the earlier round of booster draft in which we didn't use TexP's... It made me sad when I saw you all get to use those in your booster draft, haha.

But I don't think I was the one who used Gabriel a lot in the booster draft. I could be wrong though; after the tournament was over I forgot what I did in the booster draft. I don't remember playing it though.

Actually, I think the scenario was that Of One Mind was played right before a Divisions in the Church which stopped the SA, which was almost even more ironic.

I can comment on some of the games I played and some other things I noticed. That might take a couple of days depending on how much catch up I need to play tomorrow at work.

It's probably worth trying to get some comments from Captain Kirk about the differences between the upper NC and the SE metas, so I'll ask. Captain Kirk, do you think you could find some time to post some comments about the differences you saw between the upper NC and SE metas?

In two player, I played three defenses with Babylonians, although one of them was part of a combo deck so I don't actually know how Babylonian it was. I also played a site lock and a hand/deck discard deck. The offenses I played were four variations of a TGT offense, and one offense that I don't really remember, since I won fairly quickly and my opponent's offensive draw was very slim.

I was playing a Judges offense/Panic Demons defense. You can read my report in the thread I just posted.

T2-MP was dominated by Prophets and Babylonians, with a smattering of banding heroes on offense.

To all who missed it....This is the tournament of the year.  Bill is the Host of the year. Matt is the Best Singer and giver of nicknames (Called my Son 'Spicket'. My last name is Fountain) of the year. Brad is the best 'Turn the other Cheek' Player of the year. Tracer is the Best Player to Sit Next to in a tournament. Tim Maly is the only judge I know who gets bribed and still rules against you. Lurch, Cob, Cousin It, and The Thing "I am your Father".  Rawrlolsauce needs a straight jacket (Just say no to Gates of Hell).

Best memory: Lil "Matt" borrowing one of my 13 decks and in the first round, beating me with it. Bill wouldn't even give me the win and my deck won!

To all: You have earned a free pass to visit my home in KC.

God Bless All

Screw up every chance my poor royalty and philistine defense could get on him by playing A New Beginning...that's what Count would do...bah, I'm still convinced this is a better than 50% win deck, it just needed to be trimmed (126 is too large)...ah well, at least I can still dominate MD with it :P.

I had a great time flying to a local tournament.  Bill was a great host and very generous!

T2 Booster

T2 Booster was really fun, but drafting was ridiculous (in a good and awesome way).  Not only did it take a really long time, but it was interesting to figure out when to draft good and evil.  Sometimes for the sake of evening up my good/evil count, I would take a card of the opposite alignment that I would not normally draft at that point in time.  I played at a tough table with Jordan Alstad, Matt Brinkman, and John Earley.  I knew I was in for a tough game.

John drew a Galba early.  Therefore, the rest of us kept discarding cards from our hands and losing rescue attempts against him.  He was the only one to draw alot of early souls.  We all rescued souls fairly evenly throughout the game.  I drafted a Mayhem, and got to use it both stop a rescue and win a rescue.  I had to large evil characters, Four Squads of Four and the 10/11 Assyrian in territory.  I had one enhancement for numbers for each of them and John had just drawn his cards.  I knew he was going to attack me and I was not confident I could block him.  Therefore, I played Mayhem to make him lose 5 cards after he attacked, and he didn't draw much support.  I drew two gray enhancements, which were enough to block him.  Then on my turn, I proceeded to attack Matt for a soul in a teal site (and I was the only guy with Teal heroes) and he had drawn no enhancements to match his evil characters.  Therefore I stopped John's potentially game-winning soul and grabbed one to catch up.

The final round was ridiculous and Jordan laid it out fairly well.  However, he forgot to mention that Matt played False Dreams when John attacked him against me, which would have doomed my chance to get the win.  Therefore would have been little chance the other 3 would fail in consecutive attempts to win.  However, I fortunately had Cov of Noah active and negated it!  I went for the win with a bunch of teal stuff on my turn against Matt's shot defense.

T2 2p

I stayed up most of the night modifying my nationals decks from last year.  I didn't know how effective they would be with the new cards as I had not played a game of T2 since my final game at nationals.  However, I was not comfortable using a brand new deck idea and figured this would be a good time to test.

Kirk
Friends don't let friends play T1 multi.
