MN State day 2 report.

Day 1: No idea.

Day 2:
3AM: Perkins Run. This was a lot better then Regionals, it took us maybe 30 minutes to get our food instead of 2 hours. I had the appetizer sampler thingy, delicious. It had like Mozzarella Sticks, Fried Green Beans, and these Spinach Roll thingies. I also tried to win a pink frog with spirals painted on it from the claw machine but I didn't. We all bought really cool tattoos from one of the machines also. Mine were stars that were pink, purple, and white with glitter. WITH GLITTER.

T2 2p. U ready?

I'm rocking the same t2 I've been all year. Silver and TGT with Pharisees, splash of orange (to help against silver and fbtn, and to stop Cov with Abraham), and a handful of magicians.

Game 1: vs Jason Chandler (jc)
I got my orange and magicians set up really early and those held off until I could get some pharisees out. I used Holy Grail on two of his philistines (after DONing Altar of Dagon) and he only had Philly Outpost and no other characters (I had Nazareth).
Final Score: 7-0

Game 2: vs Nathan Voigt (TheHobbit13)
Imagine you're me. You're 0-2 against Nathan this year. And you need to win states or bring big disgrace to family. You shuffle and cut, then finally draw. Your hand is beautiful. Pretension, Pretension, Proud Pharisee, Son of God, Mayhem, Mary the Mother of James, Nazareth, and Balaam's Disobedience. Your opponent draws two souls and decides to go first. He then drops his entire hand and gives you your turn. You draw, he plays Mayhem.

I saw it coming and almost played mine before I drew, but I figured that I'd be nearly unbeatable if he was just bluffing, so I thought it was best to call him out on it. I tried to come back using some converted Proud Pharisee shenanigans, but it didn't work out to well.
Final Score: 3-7

Game 3: vs Mitch Stewart (MitchRobStew)
I don't seem to remember much about this game. Half way in I got my territory set up pretty well, so he couldn't really touch it. At one point I made a really lulzy play. He attacked with a MMoJ band, and I blocked with PP. I draw 2 and play Self Righteous Prayer, my only EE. Then I play Grapes of Wrath. LAWL, I get a counter. If he attacked, he'd let me draw to 16 because I had Holy of Holies up. I also had Charms so he just kinda chilled from there.
Final Score: 7-??? 2? 3?

Game 4: vs Scott Reuter (Wanderer)
Now imagine you're me. You recognize you have a chance to take first still, if Nathan loses and you win, you *should* win the tournament. You're psyched about your pharisee defense. Your opponent gets a first turn Strong Angel. Let's see, what can pharisees do to stop that..... Tenants Kill the Son..... Self-Righteous Prayer.... nothing else....

Ugly stuff. TSA got 4 really fast rescues before I Grapes'd him and came back somehow or another.
Final Socre: 7-5

Final Rankings:
1- Nathan Voigt
2- Jordan Alstad
3- Me

Beings James Roerpke (like the spelling?) got stomped by Jordan last round, and my game was so close, he was able to jump ahead of me in differential.

Event Two: Teams
Westy (Ring Wraith) and I decided to team together. Like normal. Our team name was Mercutio and Tybalt. He and I played a totally cash ABOM deck. And by cash I mean it's pretty bad. He's running a 112 card defense that has been absolutely fantastic, but the teal and gold offense I've been rocking isn't too hot.

Game 1: vs Team Chobos (Nathan Voigt and Jordan Alstad)
This was a really lulzy game, but I won't go into details because I don't want people to know they used Syrians.

I got a first turn Moses who got wrecked, and then I didn't attack for the next 45 minutes. Defenses were running wild. Jordan got a little antsy playing his SOG/NJ early, which let us just abuse our 3 copies of the 3 liner soul.

Final Score: 2-2 time out. Both teams played SOG/NJ. Neither team played FA. Yeah, no successful rescues were made. Teams needs to be 2 hours per round and 7 souls to win to be honest.

Game 2: vs Team Hasu (The M and Nameless)
Not much happened at all. We won 5-2 or something. I honestly only remember one thing: POC trolling.

Game 3: vs Team Gosu (MitchRobStew and hisbrotherIthinknotsureifheisontheboards)
This was a really weird game. Westy used Gates of Hell to discard half his deck on the first turn of the game. Things just played out really weirdly, and the defenses didn't hold out as well as expected. Eventually Team Gosu was in the lead. Westy and I had two rescued, and they had one. However, Mitch had SOG/NJ in his hand and neither Westy or I had them. Eventually I realized I could just attack with Hur to make him shuffle them before he played them, and to draw 7 cards of my own.

Final Score: 5-1

Final Rankings:
1-Team Mercutio and Tybalt (Westy and I)
1-Team Chobos (Nathan Voigt and Jordan Alstad)
3-???

Except my mad skills. In booster I went out for a rescue Jayden blocked with Saul/Paul and I used Blinding Light to set him aside ftw.

That troll was beautiful. He went out with POC (knowing he didn't have any good doms in his draw pile. xp) and we decided to give him the soul instead of blocking. He just played SoG + NJ and laughed.
The best thing I remember was Westy gatesing 35 of his 112 card deck on turn 2 while searching for a demon.

Didn't Tybalt kill Mercutio?  ;)
An unanswered question is infinitely better than an unquestioned answer.

Yes indeed. Just like Westy killed Sauce for advising him to convert High Priest Annas instead of HAII, costing them a full tourney win.

And if that kills RNRS points title, I'll be even more furious.

I still wanted to convert the gold guy. Plus, you were sitting right next to his discard pile, you should have noticed.
