First Tournament ever (Districts in Iowa)

I just enjoyed my first Redemption tournament in North Liberty, IA. It was really fun. I got to play in a regular tournament (by, win, loss). Then I played in Sealed (0-2) and then we played multi-player booster draft where I won the first table (5 souls rescued) and moved onto the second table to where I lost to Gabe (Isbell). Overall really fun and enjoyable (can't wait to play again.)

It was about a two hour drive for me to go there and I would definitely drive that far to do it again! (Anybody closer in Iowa, please let me know =].

And thank you to everybody who was there and a special thanks to Gabe for putting on the tournament.

Depending on which direction you are from N. Liberty, Mitch Stewart is a player who lives (lived?) in Fort Dodge, IA. I think he's still in that area. His forum name is MitchRobStew if you want to PM him. He often travels to Gabe's bigger tournaments, as well as some of the bigger tournaments in the Twin Cities.

On that note, there will be a big tournament coming up on February 28 just north of Minneapolis; several IA folks (including Gabe and Mitch) have come a bunch of times. It is the Annual T2 Only. If you want to learn how to play T2 (or if you already know how) it is one of the most fun tournaments every year. Bill Voigt (everytribe) posted an info thread on the Redemption Tournaments forum.

Glad you had a good 1st tournament experience! Hope they continue to happen!

It sounds like you did well. Note that losing to Gabe is akin to losing a dunk tournament to Blake Griffin, or a trash talk tournament to Hulk Hogan...   ;)

Haha as I can see from the few times him and I have played, that is about how it seems go lol

I'm happy to get some replies on here, not sure if I will be able to make it to one of those tournaments or not, but I am going to keep that in mind ;]

I think it's great that a fellow Midwesterner had their first tournament ever! Congratulations. I can relate to you, as earlier this year, I hosted my first tournament ever. It was so much fun that we're doing another tournament, with (I imagine) many more to come. If you're ever in Chicago, look me up.

Joeychips, you are having a tournament on July 12th? I'm looking to get to a few more tournaments to warm up and get better (so I can play at Nationals this year and so I could maybe start a tournament up around here). Let me know!

h20tor,
Sure thing, thanks for asking. Folks from other states are definitely welcome! Here is the forum link to all the info on the Chicago local tournament you mentioned: http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/official-tournaments/chicago-il-open-local-tournament-july-12-2014/

I actually wanted to go to Nationals as well but it conflicts with a major global leadership conference that our church is having.
